I think Rooney has been unlucky recently in that her best performances have happened in underwhelming movies, or movies that didn't get too much attention for various reasons. UNA and TSS are prime examples. With this one there's been so much controversy, I'm not surprised it was barely shown in US theatres. I don't think it did well at the box office anywhere. But her performance is absolutely phenomenal, like in TSS.
I'm patiently waiting for a great film that is acclaimed by critics and public alike, like GWDT or Carol, where Rooney can showcase her acting skills to a receptive public... I know she says awards are not very important to her, but for fans they mean we have more fans and more people talking about Rooney! And also for her, she gets offered better projects and has more choice...

The new film of Benedict Andrews is in TIFF and Venice and hopefully it will make more people see UNA and talk about it. It’s still in Netflix

National Theatre has A Streetcar Named Desire directed by Benedict Andrews available for a limited time to watch for free. It's the play Rooney saw in London when she met up with Benedict to make UNA. Starring Gillian Anderson, Ben Foster and Vannesa Kirby. Also watched SEBERG. I really loved the photography and I think Stewart and the direction are just okay. The script should be way better. But Rachel Morrison is a real talent.
