Yes, it's very underrated. Someone described this movie as "medical neo-noir with Hitchcockian suspense, Fincher’s mystery, and Soderbergh’s atmosphere". What I especially like about Side Effects is that it starts out as one sort of film, then turns into another, and ends as something else entirely. Emily Taylor is Rooney’s most chilling performance and it raise the entire movie - what could have been a decent trashy erotic thriller becomes something sinister and more elemental.
Even the opening scene is homage to the opening scene of Psycho.

Not underrated for us ;) . For non fans this is almost unknown, I remember when I went to see it, the theatre was almost empty on a Sunday. The problem was it wasn’t well promoted, imagine what would have happened if Soderbergh wouldn't had said “this is my last movie”. By the way, did you guys noticed some Emily mannerism while Isla was introducing herself to Will?, the way she jerked her hand just like when Emily finds her shrink in a cafe with her wife.

Are you sure about this renoh ? Side Effects grossed 66 million worldwide at the Box office - not something great of course but very solid in my opinion; it's actually more than total gross of Carol and some other great movies in recent years (and many Oscar nominees). Everybody I know and is interested in movies know about Side Effects and they like it.

Well I can not see the explanation to this, maybe people who loved it don't say they loved it. I went because I follow Rooney’s career, otherwise, I would have missed it. I recommended it to friends and they thought it was good ;) , it was funny that one of them is somebody that see lots of movies and had not heart about it before. Song to Song starts here tomorrow, I thought it was scheduled for the 28th, I checked the theatre website i frequent and it is listed for tomorrow, I thought it was a mistake, but I called and they told me it starts tomorrow, I haven’t seen any promo so far here. Maybe you guys have that info on The STS thread that I’m avoiding 3 weeks ago to forget all the info i have about it to enhance catharsis when I see it.
