Fall 2015, around Nov. Also I feel like they were trying to say, she's not getting work anymore. Yeah right This to me has Scott Rudin written all over it. If there's anyone as bad as Weinstein, if not worse, it's Rudin. Alicia was just building the buzz around her as the front runner, this reeks of them to me.
Have you read article inside ? Maybe we are taking this out of context ? (Too naïve, I know). Not surprised about Rudin tbh. You have to wonder how Rooney has enough nerves for all that Hollywood jazz/crap.
This is how W.E. Gladstone, great British prime minister from Victorian age gave advice to Lillie Langtry, famous actress of that time when she was just starting:
"In your professional career, you will receive attacks, personal and critical, just and unjust. Bear them, never reply, and, above all, never rush into print to explain or defend yourself."
(I'm not thinking about that magazine above, that's unimportant crap; but Rooney has received criticism for Pan controversy, "no personality" or "bland" behavior on red carpet and the fact that she is from rich family ).
Ok mag is not a reliable source for anything, sometimes while i do my groceries and waiting in line to pay i look at all those racks with that kind of mags and tittles and wonder who the hey buys them. I have read a few maybe while waiting my turn at the hospital or something like that, that's why I rather carry a book with me.

She's pretty used to dealing with it by now. She's been harrased day one since she was cast for Dragon Tattoo, so she's developed a pretty a thick skin. I don't blame her for avoiding social media. I've seen people who I admire and respect have complete mental breakdowns on twitter over far more trivial shit than what she's had to deal with. I've also seen people make glib comments about how her career has "failed to take off" which is beyond fucking baffling. In what fucking world does working with Fincher, Malick, Soderbergh, Jones and Haynes equate to a lack luster career? Her, TSN and Carol were some of the most acclaimed films of the decade. To have something like that on your resume at her age is unbelievably impressive. Pan is the only real bump and she quickly got past that once Carol blew up. I guess making it in Hollywood these days means starring in the latest cape shit movie or Star Wars tripe. I remember she got offered the main lead for Rogue One and after seeing what a dull, poorly underwritten character that was, I'm glad she didn't get it. She's always been someone that goes by her intuition and interest, and whenever she doesn't it ends up being a poor choice (e.g. Pan). I personally hope she never "makes it" in Hollywood because the current state of big budget Hollywood is fucking atrocious.

I wasn't clear, It's not about the reliability of the magazine. It's a tabloid ffs. Everyone knows they're bullshit , It's about someone probably doing a smear campaign (for awards season) against her. Rooney had never been on a tabloid before. She's managed to stay away from that shit. And whoever's behind this thing probably couldn't find anything else on her and resorted to this It's laughable.

The Pan thing, I've defending her and will always defend her for it. It's pathetic how people who went after her (the fact that she came from money just added to that) so much, didn't go after the studio, who's actually to be blamed. As for the magazine. The context isn't important because it's a tabloid, anything in there would be bullshit. The thing that gets me is that someone (either Rudin or maybe someone from a different studio who was also was campaigning for a different actress in the same category) was probably doing a smear campaign. I know people do that every time during awards season (like politicians, which I find ridiculous ), sometimes wayyy worse than this. But this was the first time I think someone did it against Rooney which was really new and frustrating, How dare someone go after Roons :anger2:

I agree with everything you said above. Comments about how her career has "failed to take off" are ridiculous.
We can't blame much studios for this; they are just doing today what they were doing since 1920s - to give the mainstream audience what they want. It's a different thing that audience's taste has changed drastically in the past 35 years. In the 1970s they were paying to see real, provoking cinema, made by auteurs. Now studio's main focus are blockbusters and superhero CGI stuff, with teenagers as their primary audience (I'm not generalizing here; many teenagers love high quality cinema also). That's why movie like Suicide Squad makes a shitload of money and films of Paul Thomas Anderson, Todd Haynes, Pablo Larrain, Barry Jenkins etc are struggling at the box-office. ( I'm sure many of 1970s classics would be considered box office poison today).
Rooney just needs to continue to work with auteur directors and her career will be fine. She is popular among many younger cinephiles because of her choices. She already has some classics in her filmography and there's much more to come.

Did the writers of the tabloids bother to check her IMDB? Since when do tabloids care about the truth. And also if this was a smear campaign against her from a rival studio during awards season (which I think it was) then I doubt tabloids would care about facts as long as they got their dough.

Ok. This is just for fun. Don't take it seriously. It's not even true. I mean she and Charlie had a huge house together in L.A

Tabloids will do anything to sell magazines! right. they have no shame, it took me like 30 seconds to find and read that article, but why bother with checking the facts and doing your job properly

I was just laughing at all the possible biblical jokes that you can do around this. There's another "report" of OK saying that Rooney thought "What Jesus Would Do" when Joaquin...😂. So silly... I love everyone by the way: Rooney, Joaquin, Charlie, Oskar...

it's not a news, but playlist is yet again fangirling over Rooney and i'm loving it! it's a tweet to the article about Kubric (The Best And The Rest: Every Stanley Kubrick Film Ranked), so really nothing to do with Rooney
