How many spinoff's do we have on Hannibal Lector so far? [ So far there's the Hannibal movies (Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon and Hannibal Rising, the order in terms of chronological order is Hannibal Rising, Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal) and the Hannibal tv series.
You forgot Manhunter (1986) directed by Michael Mann. Hannibal is supporting character but Brian Cox is excellent in the role. Red Dragon is inferior remake of this movie.

Oh yeah I forgot about Manhunter, that was the first Hannibal film ever made

I saw Beauty and The Beast last night. It was overall pretty good. Has anyone else seen it? I really want to watch it. The original was incredible. What did you think of Emma? {Spoiler}{Spoiler!} And also is it true that after all the hype around Lefou being gay, they barely touched on it in the film?

I started watching Mr. Robot and I can see why Rami Malek is a fan of Rooney's Lisbeth. So much of Fincher's films and their sensibilities is in the DNA of the show. Really enjoying it, but Elliot's issues with clinical depression and social anxiety are starting to hit a little too close to home.

I could see him working (and totally should) with Fincher. He'll fit right into his world.

Has anyone seen this 2015 thriller called 'The Invitation'? It's a indie film starring Logan Marshall-Green that I caught on Netflix 2 years ago and it really stayed with me. Marshall-Green is fantastic in it. The only thing I saw him in before was in The OC ( ) So I was pleasantly surprised to see that he could actually act.

My review for Hidden Figures. Hidden Figures seemed interesting when I first heard of it. It had a large and very talented cast, an interesting premise and story, and yes, it got many nominations for awards. So, I was curious enough to check it out. However, I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. Hidden Figures is full of great performances, solid direction and also a very compelling story. Hidden Figures is really worth seeing, a pleasantly surprising movie.
The story in Hidden Figures was quite good. It’s easy to follow what’s going on throughout the movie, there was no confusion and I never felt bored throughout the movie. The leads were likeable (which was also helped by the lead actresses, which I’ll get into later), and so I was interested to watch what was going on. The stories were interesting for me, it was interesting seeing how big of a role these women had in historical events. Each of their stories was very interesting and it’s easy to be invested in their stories. As for how the bigotry is handled, it’s subtle, at no point does it seem over the top or forced for dramatic effect. This movie wasn’t put in black and white, the way people acted and the decisions made were more complex than most movies which portray this time period. It feels genuine and so its easy to believe what the characters are feeling when they encounter obstacles, almost experiencing what they are feeling. It was an easy movie to watch overall, not complicated but at the same time very enjoyable and interesting enough.
Hidden Figures has a very talented cast all around and they were all great here. The three main leads, Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae were all fantastic, they were all very likable and believable in their roles. As I said, all of their stories are interesting to watch and these talented actresses really did carry their storylines well. If there is a main character between the three of them, I’d say that it’s Henson, she was personally a stand out to me. Other very talented actors like Kevin Costner, Kirsten Dunst, Glen Powell, Mahershala Ali and others were great in supporting roles.
The direction by Theodore Melfi was pretty good overall, this is the first film of his I’ve seen. The costume design, music, production design, soundtrack, everything fitted the time period well. So on top of the writing, story and acting, the direction made it a lot easier to be invested in this story. However it wasn’t really the highlight of the film, the story and acting were more the focus. Still solid direction nonetheless.
Hidden Figures is quite a good movie, the acting was great, direction was solid and the overall story was investing and riveting. It was interesting learning about all these events and how significant these people are. It definitely deserves the praise its been getting. Check out this movie when you get a chance. It’s not one that you need to immediately see, but I do think it’s worth a viewing.

The Discovery (Dir. Charlie McDowell)
So yea, Just finished watching The Discovery. I really liked it. Thought the first half lagged a bit, but it slowly picked up and got me hooked to it. Unlike Drillbey, I loved the ending. I found it really beautiful and touching. I didn't expect it. I've heard people say that the plot twist by the end was unnecessary and that they could've explored the discovery more. I can't say I don't agree with it. I wish they did explore it more because I really got into it and loved this new perspective on the "afterlife". But I still adored the film despite it's flaws. Charlie is truly a unique voice. As for the performances, Rooney was aces, She was sooo good. Her Isla was funny, quirky and witty. It was a side to Rooney I hadn't seen before, which was quite refreshing. Jason Segel on the other hand, I wish was better, because he's capable of giving a great performance (The End of the Tour) but here I thought he was miscast. He wasn't bad, he just didn't fit into this world as easily as the other actors did. Robert Redford was wonderful as always, his presence alone is enough to get your complete attention and make you sink into whatever is happening in a particular scene. I do wish he was given more to play with though, in that his character was such an interesting one, that I wish they had explored him more. Jesse Plemons and Riley Keough were underused, but Riley has a wonderful moment with Redford, probably one of my favourite scenes from the film. The cinematography was beautiful here, loved the cool atmosphere of the film.
So to wrap things up, I adored the film despite it's flaws. It was unique, fresh and different than anything I've seen recently.

The Discovery It's been about an hour since I've finished the film, and keep thinking about it. Rooney, Jason and Robert Redford were great, although Jesse Plemons and Riley Keough were very underused, alongside Ron Canada. I really enjoyed the cinematography and thought it was very beautiful. Rooney was fantastic, with the comic relief in certain areas. I also liked the locations they chose for the film, the beach and the house. I also enjoyed the little cameo by Mary Steenburgen in the beginning of the film. In the end, I thought it was good. Again, another great actress with a strong presence. It was really nice see her act opposite Redford.

The Most Hated Woman in America (dir Tommy O'Haver) The Most Hated Woman in America was one of the worst films I've ever seen, all of the characters in the film were underused, with terrible cinematography. The film revolves around Madalyn Murray O'Hair (a good Melissa Leo) and her children played by both underused Juno Temple and Michael Chernus, who are kidnapped by their former co-workers (Josh Lucas, Danny Fry, Rory Cochrane), while O'Hair's close friend becomes worried about them (Brandon Mychal Smith) and contacts a reporter played by Adam Scott, attempting to locating them. The film features odd cameos from Anna Camp and Peter Fonda, vital to the story, but yet feel so underwritten and underused, something feels missing. The film goes back and fourth during its slim 92-minute running time about O'Hair's life leading up to her kidnapping, however, it gets boring and seems the writers didn't know what kind of story they wanted to tell. I wouldn't recommend the film, it's quite disappointing seeing the cast and the producers behind the film. For a second I confused Melissa Leo with Marisa Tomei Really that bad huh? Leo deserves better.

I love that film so much, I love the way it builds up to the ending, connecting all the pieces together from the beginning of the film. Definitely a gem. The last shot though :explode: :nervous: creeped me out. I wish more people saw it. It is a gem.

You haven't seen Prometheus ? Marshall-Green was Ok in it, although a bit annoying and in my opinion - miscast.

No I haven't. I love the Alien movies but for some reason I never got around to watching this. Did I miss out on something special?
