Rooney's going to have to come out of hibernation to promote this I guess. Hopefully more than just the one day that the U.S. groundhog does to predict spring. I am not optimistic that it will be for an extended period though. Maybe she just needs a great script that is a sure fire win for her. Most of her recent stuff was apparently well done, the movies themselves just didn’t get ‘high enough to make the radar’. Charles |

Renoh, Hope the release extends and lasts for a while! A lot depends on how it is marketed and promoted. No doubt that rm and jr worked great together! It is all about what the audience expects, and the promoter needs to handle that. We will see. On another topic, my Ghost Story “ghost costume” was lost in the Harvey flood (hurricane that is). Do you know anyone that is done with theirs? Hopefully, the HW association is gone for the release, that should make a difference this time around. Charles |

Charles Hi Charles :) The other day i was recommending a ghost story to a co-worker that was asking me for suggestions on Netflix, he immediately search for it on his phone and then when he saw Casey’s name he told me "no thank you", but then he said "oh Rooney Mara" in a very positive way… I have to ask if he watched it. I hope the non release of this movie last year plays in favor to everyone else that worked in this movie. Also, I think Harvey’s name won’t be displayed… and least he doesn’t act on it. So far, no news about a Canadian release. I hope they distribute the Secret Scripture too. Maybe you can get the costume online. Other than you and horrorstoryfanfan, I didn’t hear anyone else in this forum won the costume. I had a lot of fun wearing it last year, gave a scare to a few people :D . |

I'm fascinated to see how this does at the box office.I'm not optimistic.I'm guessing that other Weinstein film, The Current War, has been buried forever.

Thanks for the trailer Sethan, this one looks more cerebral to me than the others and that is a plus. It opens the Thursday before Palm Sunday, and it is the only Christian based film opening or maybe even showing at all during the Easter season.
So I am hopeful, but like Lara says it seems like I have been burned before, so have questions to the available market for the film.
I just hope it comes to my area so I can see it without much effort on my part.

I found this nice review of an IMDb user. I share it because I think it shows that Garth, Rooney and Joaquin achieved their mission with this movie. Not everything is awards and critics.

Still waiting to see if it is going to show in my area. I found showtimes.com searched for Mary Magdalene . . . Here is the link.Yesterday there were only two locations (in the US) small cities one in Pennsylvania, the other in California. Today there 11 states listed some have more than one location. So if you are in the US this may help you find where it is showing. The list seems to be growing fast. Charles |
