he was doing pretty decent job at Cannes press conference, not being a total immature asshole like today, it was beyond "uncomfortable". Roons is uncomfortable at these things too, but she's never rude, she at least makes an effort, if any woman would act like he did, press would torn her to pieces i am still just wondering why it’s surprising. he hates press conferences and has walked out of them before. it’s “unprofessional” yeah but is it a big deal really? i agree women could not get away with it. rooney is definitely better at dealing with press stuff but that hasn’t stopped ppl from criticizing her for it It's not surprising but I think we should care because it reflects negatively on Rooney. It puts her in a bad light as his "girlfriend". They're in the public eye a lot at the moment as a "couple" and anything they do individually reflects on the other, positive or negative, whether they want it or not. I think they'll behave for the MM promotion though, it's a bigger deal, I hope they'll be careful.

I really wonder what Rooney wants out of her career, because getting to be the "protagonist girlfriend" in movies like that will not lead to anything. But I'll still watch, at least it seems to be better than the others he's made. And the reviews say that Joaquin is very good
Her role in this movie wouldn't be a problem at all if she, at the same time, has better parts in one or two more demanding, challenging projects; with great potential.
Why she isn't on the Vox Lux set right now, after more than a whole year of break, is the real problem. Especially after being attached to it for so long.
I only hope that her decision isn't to become vegan fashion designer and completely drop from acting - just like that. That would be really bad, anti-climatic scenario for her movie career and incredible waste of talent.
I'm scared a little...
What would reassure me is an important interview in a high profile magazine where she states that she has no intention of quitting acting and she's just taking a break. Unfortunately the last information we have is "I don't know what I want", which is scary indeed. At some point she'll have to give an interview and some journalist will want to ask her about her professional future. Hopefully we'll know something soon... it would be terrible if she avoids talking about this for a long time. I'm actually wondering if she's still an artist, we don't really know what her role is in the business. Maybe she designs the products, but maybe not. Maybe she just runs the business? After Don't Worry, it could be that she's in a phase where she lacks any artistic inspiration... :cry1:

You never explained, why do you think Rooney and Joaquin aren`t really a `couple`?.I like Charlie a lot and I`m not as keen on Joaquin, but I absolutely believe their relationship is genuine.

sorry are ppl surprised by joaquin being visibly uncomfortable/“unprofessional” at press conferences? that’s how he’s always been. you don’t have to like it but it reminds me of how ppl are continually shocked when Rooney fails to smile on red carpets, even tho she’s been the same for years He`s allowed to be uncomfortable/shy/nervous but he has to at least try to act like a professional.Promoting these films and supporting the director is part of the job.He doesn`t have to be so rude.

Translate; Chronicles below zero. Day 5 from Berlin. The new Gus Van Sant reeks of awards, here and throughout the year that comes for Joaquin Phoenix and the rest of the brilliant cast (Jonah Hill, Jack Black and Rooney Mara) and was the best of yesterday in the 68th edition of the #Berlinale
Tears and applause
