I’ve done with this guy after his needy exhibitionism on IG with that Lily girl (Yes, I unfollow him) but he has directed an episode in a series that I LOVED called Tales from the Loop in Amazon Prime and will be one of the highlights of his career because the show is perfect. His episode # 6 is better than The One I Love basically because he works with a better script. Charlie is a better TV director than filmmaker so far.
TALES FROM THE LOOP is based on the art book by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag and is visually fascinating with a sort of Pixar morale. It is perfectly written by the creator of Legion Nathaniel Halpern and if TV is not your thing, this is the show you should watch because it is an 8-part movie. It is emotional, special and original at the same time. A BEAUTY. WATCH THE SHOW. The directors list is great (Mark Romanek, Andrew Stanton, Jodie Foster, Dearbhla_Walsh). I really loved it. It's been a long time since I thought a show was that perfect. My favorite episode is # 3. WATCH. Music by Phillip Glass

I watched Dispatches from Elsewhere in quarantine. The show is a mixed bag with ups and downs and too self aware and pretentious to recommend it in my opinion BUT Jason Segel created it and Charlie directed the finale with a lot of taste and really nice choices. Weirdly if you are not interested in the season and want to watch the finale, it makes sense in itself and is nicely shot by Charlie.

Charlie should dump Justin Lader and hire some other screenwriter for his movies. It looks like the same The Discovery crew only with Lily Collins replacing Rooney 😉

Still waiting for HIS FILM. You know, something personal from him. Not those puzzles as “clever’ movies that aren’t clever actually. Maybe he’s only a good TV director, there’s nothing wrong with that, it’s just a different level. I also think Charlie is not the person to pontificate about class differences in a movie literally made in his posh childhood neighborhood and bought by Netflix, the business of soulless algorithms.
