Annette Bening and Jamie Bell getting rave reviews for 'Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool' :woohoo2: go Jamie! Kate is with him in Colorado, and she's proud :D , there's even a talk about awards potential for both Bening and Jamie (at least in hollywoodreporter)

Yes, she is probably in. When reviews say things like: "massively entertaining", "deftly deals with the numerous social issues" and "should appeal to both audiences old enough to remember and those curious to know more" it's almost a sure thing. So, it's another mainstream (we can say - historical) crowd-pleaser, about real life sport icon, dealing with important, relevant issues. It doesn't even need to get perfect reviews.
Not to mention that many Academy voters were young in time of that event so it will be nostalgic thing for them (what do you think why American Hustle got all these noms a few years ago ?)
And one more advantage for Battle of the Sexes - it doesn't have TWC as distributor to fck up the whole movie
Good luck to Emma though, I like her and maybe Carrell can win something here also.

it's pretty crowded and still not all movies are out yet, i read raves for Sally Hawkins, Judi Dench as expected, but also Hellen Mirren - The Leisure Seeker seems to be a huge surprise (in Venice and Donald Sutherland is now in race too!), oh and Saoirse Ronan is praised in Lady Bird

David Ehrlich didn't like it (C+), but he didn't like The Shape of Water too

I'm puzzled about her nod, and even more puzzle why she won the Oscar and not Isabelle Huppert. Lucky girl. I didn't like the movie that much, I thought It was going to love it as much as I loved Moulin rouge.
