NA opens the same day as new Spider-Man movie. And on December 3 there was no box-office competition. Maybe postponing for two weeks wasn't that good idea? Different targets? I believe that they think Nightmare Alley as a very adult film. Also the date is closer to the awards... Anyway the whole thing has been very messy, probably they thought in 2022 at some point. |

Date suggest two posibilities: 1) They are very confident about movie's awards and box-office prospects. After all, this is R-rated adult drama and box-office numbers shouldn't be as much as deciding factor in post-COVID world. 2) They didn't like finished product so they ditched it at possibly unfavorable date because they don't care very much and campaigning isn't option for them I'm still optimistic that No.1 is more likely but the lack of marketing so far makes me a bit worried. Non-showing on big festivals is already a big miss in campaign. Well, if that tweet was correct we can expect trailer to drop sometime this weekend, right? |
