After watching 1947 version - and if this cast really happens (fingers crossed) - it seems Rooney and Ron Perlman will be playing sort of couple at the beginning ? That's one hell of a pairing ! ;) Always liked Ron.
It was a good movie, too dark for postwar period, I imagine (original ending of the book was even darker, right ?). Really interested to see what del Toro will do with the story. Cooper, Collette and Cate are ideal cast for their supposed roles. |

I watched the original version on YouTube last night.It was ok.I'm guessing this version is going to be very different and based more on the book than the film. YES. Del Toro said that. Also said the book is big and you can't cover it all in one movie. Therefore there is much of the novel that we don’t see in the 1947 version. He said the story is very sexual and the movie isn’t. He could highlight some characters over others.., |

Toni Colette Of course I think she should take this part, it's with a prestigious director, it's fun, it's an interesting world to be a part of ... but I think directors are looking too much for Rooney to make memorable or at least special characters that aren't on the paper. It's like they said give it to Rooney because she does a lot with very little. And obviously she does it because she is one of the best but that is a bit unfair for her career. The great roles are also great in the script and I think she had that only with Lisbeth, Emily, Una. Even Therese is less in paper. I hope that before she quits, an author gives her a role to show off and not just to lift the material |

If this ends up being Rooney's first movie after the break it will be a very cool comeback. Talk about A list actress :) (Mank too) She could present the film in Venice in 2021.
Seeing the plot that the media have I think Del Toro's adaptation gives Cate the lead. Also I don’t know what this exactly means but looks interesting:
‘The Oscar-wining filmmaker said the new project will be “the first chance I have to do a real underbelly-of-society type of movie.”

Funny. Just watched Good Night and Good Luck again yesterday. Which role is he supposed to play ? Maybe the skeptical guy whom Stan and Molly are trying to deceive {Spoiler!}
(Molly poses as a ghost for his long-lost love and is almost successful).
