While sounds interesting on paper this will be - obviously - an ensemble piece. Rooney needs projects where she is the lead character and centerpiece of the movie and not the ones where she'll probably have 10-15 minutes of screen time. |

I watched GUEROS on Netflix. I think it’s pretty great and sensitive. He has a unique and personal voice. I agree that Rooney deserves and needs great roles. But also for an actress who is characterized by doing what she wants to do, I think it's cool that she supports projects that are related to her political and social interests. I think her Trash-Lion-Mary Magdalene trilogy is pretty cool in that sense. Rooney is much more of a hipster and activist in real life than one might have guessed in her Dragon Tattoo days. So I hope this information is true.

So I hope this information is true. Respect your opinion but do not agree. I don't think this is a right moment for choosing this kind of roles. Her movie career is badly in need of a leading parts (in indie flicks at least, something more commercial - and I'm not thinking about superhero flicks - is out of the question right now). Being cast in ensemble movies with very likely small screen time and predictably non-existent box-office will not advance her career for one milimeter. TSN, TGWDT and Carol were long time ago. I'd like if she chooses her projects and roles in the same way as Natalie Portman or Kristen Stewart for example. Some of those flicks were flops of course, some were successes but Portman and Stewart are almost always the centerpieces in them. (Of course, I consider Rooney to be more talented than both although Natalie is more high-profile and Kristen has bigger fan base so maybe the comparison is not fair to Rooney). It would be really anticlimatic outcome if that Audrey Hepburn biopic never came to life, it's a role she is born to play and the project has some decent semi-commercial prospects, exactly the mainstream role she needs right now. She is one of producers so it might happen after all (with Guadagnino or not). In that case Rooney must bring her A game. I mean, when exactly if not for that one? |

I’m puzzled too about this one, maybe Guillermo owed this guy a favour and introduced him to Rooney? I would like to see her doing things out of her confort zone.

Yeah, looks like she’s having fun. Ruizpalacios is a sort of serious film festivals darling so maybe Rooney can do Berlin or something.I wonder if Rooney practiced with the tray at her house. It’s not so easy that it seems that you have done it all your life. They say that filming ends on May 8. in NY? |
