I saw the movie. If you evaluate it as an adaptation of the book, then the film is terrible. From the book there is not much left. If you abstract from the book, the film will not be so bad. It seems that it is from the 90's. Everything is clear, every movement of the plot is justified. The final twist is guessed 20 minutes before the end, even if you have not read the book. Rooney really does not have much to do the first hour, her character is too passive. Her talent is not revealed here. But still there are strong moments with her, especially in mental hospital. The film cast gave an excellent and accuracy performance, except for Jack Reynor. Costumes and interiors are good. Piano music is out of place completely. That was the weakest part of the movie. The last 15 minutes will make you nonstop cry. It must be p.s. Less than a month I'll watch it again in Ukrainian dubbing. 5/10

No Roons though :diva2: IFTA Awards nominees 2017She wasn't nominated for Carol either. What does a girl have to do to get nominated for an IFTA? :anger2:

Why IFTA international categories have only four nominees ? And Carol and Rooney were snubbed for nomination last year, of course. Nothing new there.
It was all bright for Rooney and Carol until PGA nominations in January last year. After that unexpected snub hype was in free fall. It was almost like nobody (Globes, BAFTAs, AMPAS) didn't care about the movie anymore. Not even Indie Spirit. Only AACTA and that was it.
Movie with best score on Metacritic that year and this was their response ? Seriously ? BAFTA was the worst. I don't remember that I spent so unpleasant and disappointing awards show evening ever in my life.
Honestly, they can go f**k themselves.
(This was slightly off-topic but you'll understand...)

Of course I do, the treatment Carol got deserves a thread of its own :anger2: As for the IFTA categories, I don't know anything about this show, apart from the fact that it got merged with TV because no one was watching the IFTA tv awards

AACTA, not AAFCA. My mistake. But don't forget NYFCC though, Carol ruled it. NYFCC and Cannes is all that really matters to me.
