It's a great discussion with loads of cute Rooney moments. The video is from december 2015 and it's on youtube: youtu.be/Lk4fQLLs-tAI watched the video some time ago, but one thing about it kept me thinking... around 14min-14:30 Rooney talks about a experience on a film, which made her not wanting to act any more and doubt her skills as an actress. Which film do you think she's talking about?

Which film do you think she's talking about? Nightmare on Elm Street I agree that Rooney didn't like working on the Elm Street -movie, but something doesn't add up for me. Maybe I'm wrong... Did she pause acting for a year after Elm Street? And there's something in the way she's describing the movie and the director. "It was so hard and challenging" reads to me as a positive thing and "There were moments I hated the person and then loved the person and thought they were brilliant". Maybe she's just polite, but maybe Samuel Bayer isn't the guy she is talking about. Then she says that "it was one of the best experiences I ever had and I learned the most about myself". I doubt it means Elm Street. My money is on the Dragon tattoo. But maybe I have some bias towards that film ;) She loved Fincher, but he can be tough and demanding on set. The movie was a huge challenge to her. A role (like any intensive job) can consume you as an actor/actress and once it's over, you can feel empty and doubt your work. Artists can be overly critical.

I think it's Terrence Malick. She worked on Song to Song for a good amount of time, 'Brilliant' thing fits it also she really didn't work after that project for a year.

Around 4:30 mark she describes tgwtdt experience with almost the same words: being tired, doubting her skills and not working :o A MUST! Rooney Mara Tribute ~ CAROL Telluride Podcast
