Wut are you guys crying about? We just got to see all the Rooney films we were anticipating for, for so long. They may not have been handled well by the studios or done well at the B.O., but we still got to see them all in just a matter of weeks. Remember 2014? Now that was a real dry season.
How was 2014 bad ? That was the year when we saw Rooney as Therese for the first time - on the set of Carol in Cincinnati. That event was enough to light up the whole "dry" year
I meant that we didn't get anything to watch that year. And up until Carol, Trash was the only thing she had shot.

That's it. Good thing 'Carol' turned out great, cause otherwise ... oof. Now we have 'Una', MM (i think internationally, at least, it's in good hands with Universal) and 'Don't Worry'. It will be fine.

Thanks.I`ll check it out.
But please be careful not to reveal this forum : . Who knows, it can attract number of trolls. And that would be really icing on the cake after these shitty two weeks.
I won`t.This is a relatively troll free site tbh.

I thought this was gonna be Rooney's year.
I was sceptical about her win this year because of the genre and possible religious controversy, no matter how good her performance might be. But I thought nomination was secure 80-90% after November release date; and "humanistic portrayal' in description was promising and looked like something Academy voters could connect with. All what was needed were the good reviews (at least Lion level) and TWC 's campaigning.
Alas, it's all gone to dust now. Some small chance is still there for possible acting nomination if December date is option but I wouldn't count on it.
Right now, we don't know anything - is this movie good or bad ? Only speculations.

I thought this was gonna be Rooney's year. Still 2017 is a good year for her. I think. A Ghost Story's great reception, Song to Song release, The Discovery with some dark comedy, Una with one of her best ever performances has US date and good reviews... I just hope 22 December is Mary Magdalene date now... 2018 is very empty tho, maybe Africa is calling :)

Well, we must remember that Carol was originally going to debut at the 2014 festivals, but Harvey decided to postpone the premiere and leave the film for the next year and the movie ended up going to Cannes and Rooney got an nomination Maybe MM will get something better next year :

This year is being very competitive, much more than 2015 and 2016, with luck 2018 will be a less competitive year and she is more likely to have an indication, as she will have not only MM but also Vox Lux and maybe she already has another project besides these two.

I really hope this is the last time she's working for Harvey, the things he does goes always against her.

I have a bad feeling about this movie. When i read Phoenix'Jesus described as "californian hippie"..."bemused Jesus"..."Tokio hotel-level emo Jesus"..."difficult to see JP as Jesus,RM will have to carry the whole movie"...I must admit i got a bit nervous.I'am expecting an heterodox version of this story with MM as protagonist in it of course, but those journalist made it look like it was a sort of parody, ridiculous, a movie that you can't take seriously o something. The fact that this film got the Thanksgiving date for awards season early this year and now it's disappeared(no stills,teaser/trailer,reports, festivals...nothing!)makes me think TWC lost interest.Universal Pictures pushing the film out of the awards race and wait for Easter here in Europe speaks volumes too.Maybe MM isn't that good after all :confuse:

Similar thing happened to The Immigrant three years ago and it's one of my favorite films of the decade. It's early to write off Mary Magdalene like that. Even without awards attention, it still can turn out to be a very good movie.
