But seriously, if he did this only because he is producer of Current War and MM is equally good (or even better) movie then...no words, really. So...yeah, another Awards season for me to skip, just like the last year. He gave MM the thanksgiving date despite being a producer on The Current War though. I'm hoping in the end the reception is similar to The Immigrant, but don't forget the fight Gray had to put up to save his vision. Can you see Garth doing that?

If he decides on December, there's still some small chance for acting nomination(s) perhaps, although that seems unlikely.
It will be 2018 release, probably. Maybe MM doesn't have enough British accents in it which means - not "prestigious" enough for TWC (and Oscar voters) :anger2:
Or, of course, maybe it's not good enough.
Re: "not good enough". It very much might be the case. I'm ready for it, shit happens. What's weird is that we had no reports of test screenings. Harvey tests pretty much everything, sometimes to death, 'The Current War' was tested 7 or 8 times. We haven't heard anything about MM, AT ALL. As you said he's not the producer on MM, so i wonder if he doesn't have that much power or clout over Davis and other producers.
Maybe there's some disagreement between Weinstein and Garth about final cut of the movie and Harvey thinks it's better (more practical) to leave it aside (Don't forget - Harvey is a man who wanted The Immigrant to have classic "Hollywood" happy ending )
Maybe Garth has made botched job of it somehow ? (but how ? Even in worst case scenario this movie can only be typical Oscar bait, but with this story and material not a bad movie in my opinion)
Or maybe, TWC is poor company and can support only one movie during awards season, no matter how many good movies they have each year ?

Well, now I`m worried.I really hope this isn`t going to be a Tulip Fever type situation, with Harvey repeatedly moving the date back.I always suspected he favored The Current War, that`s clearly the one they`re going to throw all their weight behind.I guess it tested better than MM.Without the IMDB boards it`s almost impossible to find out how a film has tested anymore. :anger2:

That's, as i said, what is weird here, we know 'The Current War' tested a bunch of times, but we have ZERO info about MM. At the moment it really feels like the film doesn't exist for TWC, all news are from Europe and other places.

But I really do not find it so strange that a humanistic version of Jesus is not a boom in awards season. I think it's normal, sadly. Garth did a hippie and emotional biblical movie for god sake ...

Yeah, literally. For all these years I can't remember that there was so many bad news in such a short period of time. :-/
Luckily, there wasn't many bad news with Rooney's career and filmography in the past six years; but these last two-three weeks were gloomy.

yeah, so it's not just me, heh. if you add to that TGWDT without Rooney and The Discovery disappearing in Netflix void, it wasn't a good year acctually, it could be only better from now on, right? it can't get any worse...

Unfortunately, it can - I'm now only waiting for official confirmation about Rooney dropping out of Vox Lux . Well, the soon the better - this torment will be finally over. It's painful because this was one of my most anticipated projects ever.

Wut are you guys crying about? We just got to see all the Rooney films we were anticipating for, for so long. They may not have been handled well by the studios or done well financially, but we still got to see them all in just a matter of weeks. Remember 2014? Now that was a real dry year.

How was 2014 bad ? That was the year when we saw Rooney as Therese for the first time - on the set of Carol in Cincinnati. That event was enough to light up the whole "dry" year
