Hmm.So the reviews are mixed to say the least. This is the kind of film that needed great reviews/word of mouth to help it find an audience.I think it`s going to struggle when it`s released. :( :out:

Movie with theme like this was always destined for box-office struggle, unless it has 99-100% score on RT or huge star power alone. The lack of proper US distributor won't help either.

last two times aren't making any favors to her career, super small role wasting her talent and now not so good movie, kind of a lost opportunity too, imo. not a great record, 3 times with one actor it's enough

And he replaced it with The Current War which got abysmal reviews ? That doesn't make any sense.
But it was a good thing for MM not being in the center during the events last fall.

and you think MM has an award potential now? i wouldn't mind if someone could convince me there's a hope

That's perhaps problem of the script (not edgy enough) or Garth is too much safe director for them. If someone else played Jesus do you think things would be different ?
Tbh, which movie exactly after Carol was doing favors for Rooney's career ? TSS ? Lion ? Una ? The Discovery ? That's right, none of them. And Joaquin wasn't "problem" there.

nah...it's over. And we'll probably not see any new movie with her anytime soon. With Joaquin or not.

Lion and Una, yes in my opinion both did her some good, first was a commercial success and 6 noms aren't bad either, she was part of it, and she was visible and it had an audience, she was prised for Una, so a critical acclaim is there, she can be proud of a lead role in a difficult indie movie, it will always be in her filmography as one of her best roles. not so much with Don't Worry, it's doing her disservice, still too soon to tell about MM, sure the script and the director are to blame. so it seems. i don't know about Phoenix but i don't recall her any other co-lead described as a bemused hippie and smug kind of a dick in a review :wink2: . so yeah, maybe someone with a different approach would be better. and younger, Jesus is 33 y.o., he looks like 62. but it's better than Callahan who is in his twenties in some parts of the movie but seriously, of course i have no idea WHAT IF , i was just responding to indiwire comment that putting them together isn't a key to a success. i agree, i'd like to avoid the repetition, FOR ME third time's a charm, and it's enough :shrug2:
