I picked Dragon Tattoo, but in a perfect world she would've won for both :)

I think she should`ve at least been considered for Side Effects too. It`s probably her most underrated performance.

I'm a sucker for a transformative performance but Carol was spectacular work. I don't think anyone else in her category when she was nominated for Carol came close to touching her. If these things were won based purely on merit and not on wooing the voters, she would have had it.

Totally agree.I`m still annoyed she lost.Alicia Vikander ran a very good campaign, she went to all the right parties and shook all the right hands. She really wanted it and even though her performance wasn`t in the same league as Rooney`s, she got it.It happens a lot.Her role in The Danish Girl was also, unequivocally, a lead performance , not supporting.

If these things were won based purely on merit and not on wooing the voters, she would have had it. Not only in her category, also in the lead and other male categories too. Also I think her football heritage affects the freaking voter, they think she has paid to be a prodigy. Those voters should move to the People choice award show or MTV, nonsense like those.

Don't remind me, please...Awards season 2015/2016 was the biggest disappointment for me since I follow Oscars (1998).
Remember some of "brutally honest opinions" by Oscar voters in that time and their "opinion" about Carol ? I'm still bitter and angry when I recall :anger2: Some of them don't even watch all movies in consideration, they just vote.
At least, Roon won in Cannes and made history with her beautifully nuanced performance.
