Thought this a good time to start this post for others to give their thoughts.
Here are mine on the awards contenders I have seen so far.
The Showman - Hugh Jackman has a good performance but maybe not his best, pretty good musical score, very good single. Michelle Williams is excellent but probably not at the level to get a nom. Overall maybe an 8 on a 1-10 scale.
The Darkest Hour - Excellent Winston Churchill bio pic, but only if you are interested in his story. Gary Oldham is very good, tended to forget that he was acting and it wasn't Winston himself, but see room for a different Winner. Overall an 8+ an 8.5 for Oldham.
The Post - Hanks and Streep are good, as always, but not their best ever work by any means. Enjoyable movie, bio pic on the Vietnam era Pentagon Papers. 8.5 overall, 8+ for Hanks and Streep. Sarah Paulson's 'your a hero' speech truly stood out for me, it was a turning point in the movie much like her 'I am closing the door now Harge' speech in Carol. But the role is too small for a nom.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri -This movie depicts a small uneducated U.S. Town in the Deep South. You may have needed to live in the U.S. to be able to appreciate it. McDormand's performance is exceptional, one of two really great performances I have seen over the past 10 years (the other is Rooney's Lisbeth Salander role). 9.5 for Frances, 9 for the movie. This is the only one of these movies I would consider seeing twice. McDormand and either of the two male leads are nom considerations.
The Showman and The Post seem like polished studio films where everything fits together perfectly and nothing stands out, unlike Three Billboards, an Indy pic, where everyone put it on the line, and stood out individually.
Still hope to see Lady Bird soon, if it goes wider.

The Best Picture race is the most wide open for years which makes it a lot more exciting.I saw Three Billboards this weekend and really loved it although CMBYN or Get Out would still be my BP pick.

I'm confident that for Best Actor it will come down between Timothée Chalamet - Call Me by Your Name Tom Hanks - The Post James Franco - The Disaster Artist Daniel Day-Lewis - The Phantom Thread Gary Oldman - Darkest Hour
However someone else may be nominated instead of Tom Hanks, the others are frontrunners (with the exception of Franco at the moment, will depend on what happens with the allegations against him, but seeing as they came out like days before voting closed I'm pretty sure that he'll be nominated). As of this moment I've only seen Hanks and Franco's performance and I like Franco's performance the most.
Also for Best Actress it will probably come down to Frances McDormand - Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Sally Hawkins - The Shape of Water Margot Robbie - I, Tonya Saoirse Ronan - Lady Bird Meryl Streep - The Post
Frances, Sally, Margot and Saoirse are the frontrunners and so will be nominated and Meryl will be nominated because she's Meryl Streep. I've seen all these performances and my two faves are McDormand and Robbie.
Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress will probably go to Sam Rockwell for Three Billboards and Allison Janney for I, Tonya, and I'd love if they won, those two are my picks for the categories.
Best Director will be between Christopher Nolan and Guillermo del Toro, looking at the other awards results recently, del Toro just might win it. I do hope that Nolan gets to win it but I loved the Shape of Water as well, so I would be fine if GDT won.
I have no idea what will win Best Picture.

Michelle Williams could squeeze in for BA. You never know. The Academy already loves her, and she might gain more sympathy from them because of the latest controversy regarding the pay gap between her and Mark Wahlberg.

Any chance AGS can sneak in in the Best Original Song category ? Nah...almost certainly not, because Academy voters probably aren't aware that this movie even exist

I am so psyched to see Daniel Kaluuya get a Best Actor nom.Gutted that Armie Hammer missed out on supporting,I thought he was a lock and he truly deserved one.The real shock for me was Denzel Washington`s nomination,Jake Gyllenhall has been robbed yet again. And Meryl got nominated again,of course.
