I saw Little Women and I liked it a lot. It's different from the old version so I didn't have a nostalgia problem. Greta deserves to win adapted screenplay. Her version is about the cycles of life and the process of writing which is bold, personal and beautiful. She makes very nice decisions in the direction but does not deserve a nomination in that category more than Celine S or Noah B. Yorick Le Saux should have nominated for cinematography. Its stunning.
Saoirse does nothing wrong but for me Jo March is something else. I feel that she follows the manual of the special girl, which is not the same as being special. Although maybe I felt that way because I love the character a lot or because Rooney has spoiled me a lot <3
I liked Eliza and Florence. I hope you saw it at the cinema. I saw it with people crying loudly and it was beautiful

Charlie's Angels. This was fun!.Nowhere near as bad as the reviews would have you believe.Kristen Stewart is great in it.Definitely worth a watch.7/10.
Color Out of Space.Yes,it's a Nicolas Cage film, but it is a surprisingly great one.Obviously Cage gives a "big" performance, but this is a funny, scary and atmospheric horror film and the best thing he's done in ages.8/10.

Finally watched The Farewell and it’s such a beauty of film. I waited for a theater but no luck here :( . I was going to say it's too quiet for Oscars, but Sofia won one for a quiet film so Lulu and Akwafina were just robbed. At least Joaquin said something ...

Long overdue, I watched Hungry Hearts of Copa Volpi winner Adam Driver and it’s hard.... but something about its rawness stays with me. Watch if you can. It’s in Amazon Prime. Adam is a treasure.
Also watched Uncut Gems time ago and is well made, fun at moments but that was all for me. Kinda overrated or maybe just not for me. Sandler is fine. Just fine, in my opinion

Todd Haynes’ Dark Waters is good. Surprisingly it’s very Haynes in a way. Ruffalo is great. So underrated. Better than Wonderstruck

It's been a while since I posted in here, so I'll talk about some of the recent movies I saw.
Dark City was very much my kind of movie, and I loved it. I also watched the director's cut, which from I can tell was the best version to watch.
The Man from Nowhere is a simplistic crime thriller but it's well directed and entertaining, particularly the fight scenes.
Hunger is not an easy movie to watch, but is incredibly well directed by Steve McQueen, and acted by Michael Fassbender, worth seeing.
I wasn't so big on Dogtooth, I like Yorgos Lanthimos's other movies a lot more. It's satirical but kinda without a lot of the humor, so it just felt weird and not necessarily in a good way.

I freaked myself out even more by watching Contagion, one of Soderberg's better films actually and obviously,a scarily relevant one right now.
Also watched Luce, which was really good.Kelvin Harrison jr and Octavia Spencer were both great in it.

Watched Crazy Rich Asians for the first time.
I get that this film doing well at the B.O. is supposed to have been a step in the right direction for Asian cinema and actors. But I find it hard to believe that a film this formulaic, superficial and bland with nothing real to offer was ever truly going to help that cause in any real way. The film doesn't break any new ground. On a second thought I don't think any film really needs to break new ground as long as it's entertaining and true to what it's set out to do, unfortunately this film is neither entertaining nor authentic. 1 hour 30 minutes into movie I was still trying to find the story.
The only interesting moment in the film is a beautiful wedding sequence with a nice rendition of Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love playing in the background that is quite mesmerizing (a bit cheesy too though, fyi).
The acting again had nothing real to offer. Constance Wu might be a capable actress but her role is so vapid and dis-interesting that I don't root or even care for her, same goes for her love interest played by Henry Golding (He's real cute though). I have always loved watching Michelle Yeoh on screen, but she's wasted here. Awkwafina on the other hand walks a fine line between being funny and just annoying. There were times when her acting reminded me of Miley Cyrus' from Disney's Hannah Montana (My 18 year-old self would probably find that funny, but my 28 year-old self, not so much).
To conclude, I probably should've found something better to watch in order to distract myself from what's happening around the globe atm.
P.S: If you're interested in watching a good wedding film, please go watch Mira Nair's 'Monsoon Wedding' (though I personally wouldn't call it a wedding film. Cheers!).

Here's some of the movies I saw recently - Munich I think is one of Steven Spielberg's best films, very well made. - Stalker is my first Tarkovsky movie, it's quite long and slow but I think it might be a masterpicece, there's a lot to take in. Definitely will need to rewatch it again sometime. - Duel is quite a good debut from Steven Spielberg, simple but effective thriller. - I was going into Piranha expecting a lot of silliness and not really a good movie, but I wasn't even that entertained for the most part. - I had no idea what I'd feel about David Lynch's Dune but I actually thought it was decent, although had some very glaring issues and is very likely his worst movie. Though my experience was probably elevated by the fact that I knew Denis Villeneuve's version was coming and so was comparing the actors cast in his version to the ones that Lynch cast, etc. - Cronos is Guillermo Del Toro's first movie, and it was quite good - Let Me In was a pretty good remake of Let the Right One In and I liked some of the decisions made, others not so much. Some parts are a little too goofy like the use of CGI and unfortunately it's a little too similar to the original movie. - Spielberg's War of the Worlds surprised me, I didn't know that I would like it given the mixed response to it, but it was really effective. - The Devil's Backbone ranks among Guillermo Del Toro's best movies. - I also saw the 1932 version of Scarface, and while it's definitely overshadowed by the Brian De Palma version, it's still worth a watch.
