Re-watched Roman Holiday a week ago after a long time. That ending still gets to me. I've heard about it but I've never seen it, I need to get around to it.

Last night I watched Magnolia for the first time, I think it's one of Paul Thomas Anderson's best films. Some plotlines are better than others, and some characters aren't as strong or as interesting as others but most of it really works. The performances are the highlights, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore and Tom Cruise are the highlights, Cruise particularly gave an Oscar Winning performance (and he should've won). There are some odd decisions made but I loved the vast majority of the movie. My favorite PTA s with Phantom Thread

Same here. The whole movie has that light, funny, cute romantic feel and then - the ending. Utterly realistic and bittersweet.
I like this description (from some movie book) of RH ending:
Audrey's face at the end
Incredible writing, especially for that time. Re-watched Roman Holiday a week ago after a long time. That ending still gets to me. I've heard about it but I've never seen it, I need to get around to it. You must. Then watch Sabrina right after

I'm gonna try to see it with my dad this weekend (along with BlacKKKlansman).
Saw First Reformed. Still thinking about it...
I've heard so many great things about it, I need to check it out.

I saw BlacKKKlansman and Quantum of Solace. I'll have my review of BlacKKKlansman up in a few days but what I can say about it is that it is currently my pick for best film of 2018. My more recent viewing of Quanutm of Solace was my second, I didn't hate it like some but it's a very mixed bag, with horrendous editing during the action scenes and a lacklasture script (due to the writing strike at the time). Daniel Craig was still great though, the best James Bond by far. Finally got around to watching Sunset Boulevard.Wow.What a film.Gloria Swanson truly deserved that Oscar. I heard about it for a while, I need to see it.

Quantum Of Solace was so disappointing, maybe the flattest Bond film I`ve ever seen.Really curious about BlacKKKlansman, the reviews have been amazing.Spike may well be getting best picture/director noms for this.

I watched First Reformed a little while ago, which was fantastic. Ethan Hawke gives a career best performance. Its not for everyone but it really worked for me.
On the other end of the spectrum... Gotti lived up to all the negative reception. It's not painful to watch but it's really uninteresting and has bad writing, bad direction and especially very questionable decisions as to how they portray Gotti (at the end the movie suddenly becomes pro-Gotti). The best part of the movie is that all the actors are at least trying to be good but all the material they have it holding them back. So yeah, Gotti isn't very good.

Watched The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society last night. It's a really sweet, lovely little film,a bit of harmless escapism. If you like The Crown or Downton Abbey then you'll probably like this.Lily James is fast becoming one of my favourite actresses, she's got such a likeable screen presence.

I watched Deadpool 2 The Super Duper Cut and while it's at about the same level as the theatrical cut, it was nice seeing the additional scenes in the movie. I liked the movie a lot more the second time round, filled with great comedy and entertainment and surprisingly effective drama. It's biggest issue is the first half which is rather slow.
I also rewatched Skyfall, its tied with Casino Royale as the best James Bond film. Everything with this film is fantastic and I strongly believe that this is the best directed James Bond film. I hope Bond 25 is at the level of quality of Skyfall and Casino Royale at the very least.

I absolutely loved Deadpool 2 so I`m going to have to check out The Super Duper cut.Skyfall is hands down my favourite Bond film but I'm worried about Bond 25, the turmoil surrounding the production makes me think we might not be seeing it for a while. The script that leaked, about a year ago, was mediocre at best.Apparently Danny Boyle left because he objected to killing off Bond.
