No doubt this was a Huge break for her and helped to launch her career in a big way.Tbh the roles she had before GWTDT, apart from The Social Network, weren`t up to much.Do you think she would`ve made it if she hadn`t got the role?.I wonder how her career would`ve panned out if she hadn`t?.  I have no idea. Bu didn't she say at some point around 2011 that she considered quitting? Not necessarily the industry but just acting, if she hadn't gotten this role. Correct me if i'm wrong. |

The Social Network was crucial point for her career. That small, scene-stealing part is where everything started to be serious (2010 - symbolically the start of the new decade); and it also opened the way to TGWTDT which made her a star and respected actress she is now. If by any chance she missed TSN - who knows what would be her filmography now ? B-horror remakes, reboots or bad romcoms ? And it would be very disappointing for her to waste her talent in such movies which would probably result in her quitting acting.
Sometimes , talent isn't enough; you also need a certain amount of luck - to be at the right place in the right time. In Rooney's case - David Fincher happened to her. :
I think, even without Fincher, she was destined to make a big break in Hollywood because her talent is immense - but when exactly ? Jessica Chastain is one of the best actresses working today but wasn't famous until 2011 when she was 34, not to mention some others.

I want Rooney to work with Goran Visnjic again. He has got such good timing and a very expressive face. Would've loved to have seen more of him. Also, curious to know, has anyone here managed to buy these earrings? Always wanted them, sooo good   |

I want her to work with Viggo Mortensen and Max von Sydow also. At one point they were considered for the roles of Michael Blomkvist and Henrik Vanger. I think it would be great to see all three in the same movie.

According to Wiki Craig "competed with Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Viggo Mortensen, and Johnny Depp as candidates for the role." IMDb trivia confirms this. Craig originally turned down the role due to possible conflicts with Skyfall . After production of the film was suspended his schedule freed up and he retook the role.
Clooney and Pitt are so wrong for the part. Depp is more chameleonic but I can't imagine him in this role at all. Yeah, Craig or Mortensen were the best two choices.
