Peter Bradshaw liked it. “Guillermo del Toro hits us with a spectacular noir melodrama boasting gruesomely enjoyable performances and freaky twists. He shows us that in spite of the old song, there are in fact a couple of businesses like showbusiness: psychoanalysis and crime. Del Toro conducts us into a fairground of fear with his usual love of the fantastical and the hallucinatory, the same adoration of classic golden age Americana and some spasms of body-horror violence. Thankfully though, it’s without the supernatural whimsy that sometimes threatens to drown his movies in twee.” www.theguardian.com/film/2022/jan/20/nightmare-alley-review-guillermo-del-toro-bradley-cooper-cate-blanchett

If he loves/likes something I'll probably hate it 😄..we'll see.

BAFTA: Cinematography Production Designer (very deserved) Costume Designer
Why industry ignores Bradley like this? Is there something against him? Like bad reputation or something.
Alana and Renate in Best Actress!!!. Renate is my favorite female performance of year (so far) I adore her film too. I haven’t seen Licorice Pizza yet...

Alana and Renate in Best Actress!!!. Renate is my favorite female performance of year (so far) I adore her film too. I haven’t seen Licorice Pizza yet... I don't think Bradley has bad reputation or something. He is well liked by the industry (four Oscar nominations so far for acting alone, more for producing), was invited on Obama's birthday party last year (that's mainstream acceptance as possible). Crucial factor is that NA made little money at box office, like I said before if the movie was released on some streaming service it wouldn't be an issue, it would be more like Mank last season. Another factor is that NA is dark movie and, as usual, AMPAS goes for more "uplifting" flicks because now are "dark" times (started in 2001 and the end of it is not in sight, apparently). I was wondering if Cate isn't temporarily on some sort of black list. She defends Woody Allen and after 2017 that's not cool in Hollywood anymore. Remember that Being the Ricardos was her passion project for years and one day she suddenly wasn't there anymore. But probably not, I'm reading too much into it. Hate conspiracy theories. Not surprised with BAFTA noms because there was no Bradley and Cate on released shortlist some time ago. Oscar nominations will be probably the same - 3 or 4 at most. Btw I'm not following BAFTA too much after their changes last year, they didn't even nominated Carey Mulligan for Promising Young Woman (right?).

It was also weird that Cate didn’t get tons of awards for Miss America in a Kate Winslet way for HBO. I read Gloria Steinem hated the show... Maybe she’s a sort of influencer in intellectual circles...Also Woody. Also she named her son after Roman Polanski so....

Finally saw this today now that it's on HBO Max. Rooney was beautiful and very good as well. Really a shame this bombed. It was not without its problems but it's still so much better than the dreck people actually go to see these days.

Holy shit. Thank you Marty No. 4 Best Picture for Rooney 🥂. Should have been No. 6 honestly. Cate and Bradley or Guillermo? So happy for Licorice Pizza!!! And Joachim. But some nominations are really ridiculous... more than usual I think. I think Kristen Stewart deserved it for her effort but I see her (not Diana) the whole movie which is bad.
