In case anyone is still interested in this... Untitled Apple Studios Rooney Mara Project (biography) is now listed on Rooney's IMDb page (Guadagnino's too). Current status is "Pre-production". The 1st sentence was - of course - a joke. We ARE interested in this, naturally. But every experienced Rooney fan should be cautious about these things. You never know... especially with the strike going on, without end on sight. Fingers crossed. If both this and The Island are truly in pre-production, here's hoping they get made as soon as the strike comes to an end. Be it next year or the year after that, it would be nice to see both, very interesting projects, come out the same year. River can play Audrey's son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer. So Rooney could have him with her on the set and these scenes would be more natural and convincing.

Some really bad news, folks. Rooney's Audrey Hepburn project is no longer happening. According to World of Reel Luca confirmed this at BFI during Q&A.(sorry for not providing a link but I just have no will to do it). He didn't specified why by he used words "totally shelved". You know what? Maybe it is time for us to move on with our lives. If this news is definitely confirmed soon that's certainly what I'm going to do. For the past 6-7 years as a fan it was all about disappointment and waiting. To the point that I no longer feel any excitement or positivity about any new projects of hers. Something like this would be impossible to feel or say in 2015 or 2016 (or even 2021) but I'm just tired now, like a balloon without air inside. This was like final test for me to see if she is serious about acting, to see if she is going to push this to the end, to see if she will at least try with role for which she is born to play, to see if she has a will at all to escape her little obscurity with some great performance and make a sort of comeback. And it's over now, definitely. At this point this almost looks like mocking of her dedicated fans - that little remaining number anyway. And we are just losing our dignity being happy when some news about new project is out even if we know, deep down that it probably isn't going anywhere. Seriously, it would be better if she could just say she is no longer interested in acting and wants to dedicate herself to other things to put me (us) out of misery. Is she even aware of her fans? Like I said, I have zero excitement for her other projects - The Island and that kitchen movie - or anything that will be announced in the future (like does that means anything anymore?). Don't know, I'm upset and very disappointed now. Just have no right words to describe it. This is a big blow. It's just too much. Everything that was built in the past 12-13 years is now definitely collapsing. Some of you probably see this more optimistic (I'm sure sethan is excited for The Island or Polaris or any future Joaquin-Rooney collab) but I just don't see the point anymore. And just a week ago I was happy to read that WGA strike ended with SAG deal close...

It was just too good to be true.

It was just too good to be true. It was, wasn't it? And we knew deep down it would end like this. How else? Script exist, she is producer and IMDb was updated month ago to pre-production but not even that was enough. This is probably the biggest disappointment since I follow her career (11-12 years).

I am sure she got hit the hardest considering she has been attached to this for a while now.
She always bounces back and shall again.

I am sure she got hit the hardest considering she has been attached to this for a while now. She always bounces back and shall again. No matter what happens next, Audrey cancelation is a irreparable damage to her career. It will cast a long shadow whenever we talk about her and her filmography. The only way out is if she continues to push this forward and find some other director soon (except Garth, of course). This project don't need to be expensive. She can make it with Todd if no one is interested. But this is very unlikely to happen. What annoys the s**t out of me is that we, as fans, are constantly being in the dark for all these years. We don't know the reasons why Audrey or any other announced projects are abandoned. We don't know what are Rooney's plans and does she has any intention to make a comeback or continue with her film career seriously. We don't know really nothing. Some new project gets announced. Long, painfully slow wait for pre-production. And then, in the meantime, project is quietly abandoned or Rooney isn't attached to it anymore. Without any explanation. Just like that. And every time when it starts to get slightly better, finally some small hope... NOPE, we are back on the start. Again and again. A never ending loop. Fcking Twilight Zone. You should ask yourself is there any point continuing with this?
