i checked out Sierra/Affinity's site (i assume that's "the company doing the international sales") and VL is still there as in pre-production, with Rooney and Stacy, without Jude, but that can change any time i guess...i've read about Vox Lux's bad script in February, so nothing new there, but still it sounds so promising, i want her in A House, i rather wish she didn't do MM, it's more problematic movie, imo (and probably will be thrown under the bus by Harvey anyway) i just can't understand what's happening with her, dropping projects isn't that rare, but 2 super interesting project in one year? it would be strange if true. i agree, dissapointment is the word :-/
It was a bad week. First possibility of MM going nowhere and now this. Wtf ? Well, if true there wasn't much left - only House and nothing new there, as usual. Luckily, we have AGS but, probably, it will end up under the radar for the most of average moviegoers; shame, because this movie deserves much more attention.
Cheer up ! We do not know anything for sure yet. It certainly doesn't look rosy right now but there's still hope for both films... really weird thing is that i remember reading somewhere Rooney dropping out of Annette was because she couldn't make 15 weeks shoot during this summer, like she had something planned for it already, but it doesn't look like it right now (only visiting her boyfriend in Spain , i hope it wasn't the reason ), she didn't work this year exept for a few days in March, let's hope she will be hungry to do something really soon, maybe something new (?) a bit OT, but you're right about MM, i've read today a piece about Weinstein Company and we're not the only ones wondering about MM's fate: The Weinstein Company’s Struggles Continue, But Is There a Way Out? according to this 2016 was the worst year the company has had since 2008... and MM is in their hands, sad af but true, The Current War is the chosen one, judging by festivals line-ups, so far. :'(

It sucks :-/ So, as Red said, The Immigrant fate is very probably reserved for Mary Magdalene ? (The Immigrant is one of my favorite films of the decade but small number of people know that this movie actually exists ). The worst thing would be if MM is actually great and Harvey doesn't like it for some stupid reason (or his vanity, of course).
Rooney needs to move away from TWC. The sooner the better.

i don't think this is all her fault, or has to do with laziness... it looks like Vox Lux was delayed and she had to choose between it and Annette (not between Annette and visiting her boyfriend...), then Vox Lux was again delayed and she had to choose between that and A House in the Sky. House is the least exciting of those by far IMO but she's been attached to it the longest and it's her project so I understand even tho I'm disappointed.

Recap: - it suppose to start in late January. It doesn't. - Sierra/Affinity says it starts in February. It doesn't. And Jude Law is now missing. - talks that it starts maybe in June. It doesn't. And now Mica Levy's name dissapears. - producer now says that there is no firm start date. Couple of people on AW say that the scirpt is terrible. Another poster says that Rooney dropped out. It wouln't be surprising at this point. I wish she would go back to Annette somehow. Chances are pretty much zero, but i remember that when news of Williams came out Indiewire wrote: Let's just hope all things will get sorted out soon.

Man, I hope that user was wrong but between multiple start dates that never came to fruition and the fact that I can't imagine what they could get out of straight up lying now that they've confirmed they meant Vox Lux and not Annette, it's looking like it might be true. I was so excited about this/next year at the beginning of it and now everything I was looking forward to isn't actually going to happen. A Place in the Sky was actually the project I was looking forward to least and now it looks like that might be the only one we're getting.

I do not think she leaves Vox Lux. It is a role that requires much preparation. The dates are not her fault. I have always believed that you can film Vox Lux by parts in different parts and cities without anyone knowing

I`m guessing it`s a money thing more than anything. It would be hard to get funding for a film like this,as its commercial appeal would be extremely limited and Rooney, as great as she is, doesn`t pull them in at the muliplex`s.

MM will be relegated to the sidelines for purely financial reasons ie:they can`t afford two campaigns. ;-| This is where I get confused. How can anyone look at a project like Magdalene and think it will get butts in seats? It's only real shot at making money would be if it got a campaign. Outside of it who would be interested?

Laziness? Bring up Phoenix for no reason? This thread is going places. thank god, you're always here to reprimand all lost souls and push the thread in the only right direction in a such gentle and diplomatic way :P , good job! j/k<- just in case it's not clear enough
my reason was obvious (so i thought), her trips to Europe to her boyfriend are the only different sightings we have of her going away from LA this summer, and these are the clues she's not working right now, she's seen in LA or in Spain regularly through June and July - the time she was suppposed to shoot Vox Lux in NY and Atlanta and LA , she's not doing it, imo

There IS a market for Chrisian themed films, that's for sure. Unless it's something radical like "Jesus Christ Superstar" or has an enormous budget, i think it has potential to make decent money. Universal decision to release it on a weekend before Easter in Europe is actually a good one, box-office wise.

Outside of it who would be interested? knowing Harvey, it's a lot cheaper to base his strategy just on the controversy, even provoking it on purpose by pushing the right buttons with all those religious groups, and you have a low cost promotion and people wanting to see what's that all about, no need for solid and thought-thrugh compain for a lot of money, he's shameless and cringeworthy, i wouldn't be surprised if he'd pull something like this

Do you honestly think Vox Lux is not shooting because of that? Really? I guess that's why Law left in January and Mica Levy left sometime in the spring. She can't stay in LA or travel? The movie is not shooting, what is she supposed to do?
