For me she is on board until Vox Lux is filming with another actress. She can not be accused of abandoning a project that has not started without her. Annette is not filming now as many sources said, for example.

thank god, you're always here to reprimand all lost souls and push the thread in the only right direction in a such gentle and diplomatic way :P , good job! j/k<- just in case it's not clear enough
my reason was obvious (so i thought), her trips to Europe to her boyfriend are the only different sightings we have of her going away from LA this summer, and these are the clues she's not working right now, she's seen in LA or in Spain regularly through June and July - the time she was suppposed to shoot Vox Lux in NY and Atlanta and LA , she's not doing it, imo
Do you honestly think Vox Lux is not shooting because of that? Really? I guess that's why Law left in January and Mica Levy left sometime in the spring. She can't stay in LA or travel? The movie is not shooting, what is she supposed to do? honestly. i blame Canada. and Joaquin Phoenix for everything, just look at that devil! {Spoiler!} seriously though, i think she should take him as an example, he's done much more work this and last year than Rooney

This is where I get confused. How can anyone look at a project like Magdalene and think it will get butts in seats? It's only real shot at making money would be if it got a campaign. Outside of it who would be interested? There IS a market for Chrisian themed films, that's for sure. Unless it's something radical like "Jesus Christ Superstar" or has an enormous budget, i think it has potential to make decent money. Universal decision to release it on a weekend before Easter in Europe is actually a good one, box-office wise. Do we have any idea what the budget is for this? I doubt it's anything more than 20-30 mil.

She did 4 movies in year and a half, he's doing his 4th for the same period.

There`s no doubt in my mind that Harvey is going to launch a big Oscar push for The Current War.I think he see`s it as this years Imitation Game. MM will be relegated to the sidelines for purely financial reasons ie:they can`t afford two campaigns. ;-| This is where I get confused. How can anyone look at a project like Magdalene and think it will get butts in seats? It's only real shot at making money would be if it got a campaign. Outside of it who would be interested? This exactly! It's not even going to attract the usual religious crowd because they've made it clear that they're not doing a strict Biblical interpretation. As soon as people realize that they're not depicting Mary Magdalene as a prostitute, that will be enough for most religious people to write it off, unfortunately. They're very strict and protective of religious stories being depicted EXACTLY as they are in whatever version of the Bible they use.

Outside of it who would be interested? knowing Harvey, it's a lot cheaper to base his strategy just on the controversy, even provoking it on purpose by pushing the right buttons with all those religious groups, and you have a low cost promotion and people wanting to see what's that all about, no need for solid and thought-thrugh compain for a lot of money, he's shameless and cringeworthy, i wouldn't be surprised if he'd pull something like this For him to do any of this, he must be serious about the film.

This film also isn't listed on the DGA website anymore. :( You mean this? It's still there for me.

I`m actually ok with this film not happening.I`m probably on my own here but I really want to see Rooney in a few more commercial films. She almost exclusively makes indies and while that`s great for her cred it`s not really expanding her career. You CAN do both.Cate Blanchett,Jessica Chastain and Brie Larson have all made big studio movies recently. She needs to mix it up a bit, her choices are a little precious and limiting imo. :anger3:

Is that supposedly "terrible" Vox Lux script available somewhere online ? Or just to a few AW members with good connections ? Did they really read the whole script from the first to the last page or it was just typical "Meh, this movie isn't the thing I wanted it to be so it's automatically bad" reaction on the "devil" thing ? Does anyone knows this for sure ? Are they reliable sources ?
So, according to them Celeste sells her soul to the devil for success. Figuratively ? Is that devil actually her manager ? Is this some modern version of Faust or female Dorian Grey ? Idk, it sounds intriguing to me; more than some generic story about stereotypical Cinderella-singer (like that coming project with Elle Fanning).
Well, if some other actress replace Rooney in the near future and that "awful" script turns out to be "great" and "Oscar-worthy" in the end that would be...annoyingly disappointing, to say the least. And, the worst thing is, it's quite possible.
