I really hope she hasn't dropped out, this was my most anticipated 2018 film and I was really excited to see Rooney in a Carax movie :'( .

If she dropped out (which she might have)? I wonder what the reason was for it, schedule conflicts with 'Don't Worry' maybe? She was attached to the project for like 3 years, it makes no sense she would just drop out when they're finally getting financed? Hope these guys clear this thing out soon. Considering recent developments, 'Vox Lux' is probably the reason. As far as we know, it should've been in production already, but it's not. If I'm not mistaken they were to start filming Annette in late spring. So If that's true I'd say she probably dropped out for 'Don't Worry' (if she did, that is). It also looks like that film will take longer to shoot. If she did drop out, I pray to god the reason for it was worth it

Really bad news :sad2: I wanted to see her working with Carax and Driver. As Sethan said - it's "once in a lifetime" opportunity.

Not yet entirely but I'm afraid that poster says everything. We live in denial now. Oh well...
Her name is still attached to Annette on IMDb (if that means anything).

It really doesn't. I feel like we've actually become better than them at finding info and updating right now

Exactly, since when the hey we have the poster while still in pre-production? this is just a rushed mock-up.

hollywoodreporter doesn't mention Rooney (only Adam) in relation to Annette Berlin: After 'La La Land,' EFM Turns Up the Volume on Movie MusicalsDriver also will soon be crooning on the big screen in Annette, a music drama about a widowed stand-up comedian that Kinology has at EFM, and another one of the market’s hottest packages, Vox Lux, also has a notable actress: Mara, who will play a pop star whose journey is traced over 15 years. Along with Mara, the film, directed by Brady Corbet (who received critical acclaim for his Venice film The Childhood of a Leader), has another strong selling point: multi-platinum artist Sia, who wrote all the original songs.
maybe that's also a factor here, too many music driven movies for Rooney, this year Song to Song, and then 2 more in one year (?) ETA: someone on awardswatch is claiming that Rooney "dropped out bc she couldn't do a 15-week shoot during the summer", so perhaps Vox Lux is planned for this summer afetr all? what else she's doing this year (i know about Don't worry.., but it's small and not in this summer)

We had dates only for New York, but we also know that it's suppossed to be filmed in LA, Stockholm and Atlantic City as well. It sucks that she's not gonna work with Carax, but it is what it is. Onto the next thing.

I heard different versions i assumed she dropped out because of Carol, her involvement in Carol was announced in late August 2013 and in October 2013 that she's no longer attached to Brooklyn, Carol and Brooklyn schedules didn't work out, i thought so at least. what's the different version?

The version I heard is that they want Saoirse from the beginning but she's too young for the role. Rooney took it but the film it got stuck in money/pre-production issues for years and when Brooklyn had green light they thought Rooney was too old for it and Saoirse was in the right age. The funny thing is that Carol later showed that Rooney can play the innocent girl perfectly

According to someone on AW Rooney did drop out because she apparently couldn't do a 15 week shoot in the summer. Don't know how much truth there is to this. But here's the Link.
