Rooney Mara: " THE THING THAT I LIKE THE MOST (of acting) IS TO GET LOST"
In the cinema, she always plays characters on the edge as the protagonist of Millennium or the protagonist of her new film The Discovery .
But for Rooney Mara the important thing is to disappear. ""Of those who look at me, yes, but mostly of myself"
I met Rooney in Los Angeles. She has black hair all on the one hand and in her dress Louis Vuitton black I see a super-chic version of the hard hacker Lisbeth Salander in the Millennium saga, but also the elegance of the sweetest Lucy, co-star of the film Lion. Rooney, you´re one of the stars more reserved in Hollywood .How do you stay away from the spotlight?
You will not believe me, but most of the time I can walk without being disturbed. And if it were not so, I could not have a good life You like to play, however, people with difficult lives.
"It's odd: when I work, I find myself immersed in an alternate world. It is not real, but it seems, since for several weeks I have to live the life of other. However, after the last take, I just want to go back to being myself. That is the only reality that I want. " You will turn 32 year old in April, Do you feel that something it has changed?
"Yes, by dint of unsettling roles, every time I feel like a different person." Is it not confusing?
"Not at all, in fact I hope it goes on for so long. If I look into my past, there are aspects of me that are almost unrecognizable today. And I like that. What goals do you have before 40?
"The other day I was thinking that if the world does not change, I have 10 or 15 years before my career is basically over. And because the stories are temperamentally a bit 'cynical I would like to stage as much as possible of positive stories, they can push us, perhaps, to hope for a better world. " But The Discovery premise tells of an epidemic of suicides.
"The Discovery must be seen until the end, before you judge it. Anyway, today I do not think you can expect too much consistency from me: I only slept three hours last night. " Why?
"It took a lot of work to get this face and this look," she laughs. "No, the truth is that when I work, all that has to do with the wellcare and care of myself goes to the second floor. I try to exercise every day, eat well and regular hours, sleep: but do not always succeed. Tonight, for example, I have failed. " How do you keep your feets on the ground? "Right now I'm not capable, I am a bit 'lost. Sometimes I think that part of the actress lives is having to sell their image to others, and I'm not as good as the seller. I know who I am, but I find it hard to feel truly free in a world where appearances count more than substance. " It is the harsh law of Hollywood.
"Yeah, I undertake to adapt for one reason only: because I know the sacrifices and the red carpets that would avoid still worth the price of the life I have." This Christian spirit is also the role of Mary Magdalene, the woman who witnessed the resurrection of Jesus? This film, which we will see next year, changed your relationship with religion? Rooney: "It is not a religious film, but a spiritual history: we want to send a message as universal as possible." You shot in Sicily, in the province of Trapani, in Matera, Naples and Rome. What do you found in Italy?
Rooney: "Part of my origins. I'm half Italian (maternal grandmother Rooney was, ed). And then, thanks to the Italian set, have been able to get away from Los Angeles for a while. Source

Perhaps it's a a fake beard all the time He doesn't like publicity very much.
Not to mention he was much portlier when he was on the set of You Were Never Really Here back in July/August. I like how methodical he is in his recent roles:
The Master - skinny Her - normal The Immigrant - normal Inherent Vice - normal (looked thinnier) Irrational Man - gained weight You Were Never Really Here - even more weight Mary Magdalene - back to normal

Cannes line up gets revealed on Thursday (April 13). Any predictions if it'll make it or not? Or better off for fall festival? hmm, i think it's too soon, or Garth made it and it's ready? he's now at the special screenings of Lion (extra 8 minutes version), so it looks like he's not editing MM anymore, but i would think there will be some test screenings first, i don't think it will be at Cannes at this point... but who really knows? it would be awesome if Rooney could meet up with Todd there!
