We need a place to discuss Rooney's projects which fell through or those she could possibly do in the future, or should do (?) so our wishful thinking included :D What kind of a movie you'd like her to do next? Which failed poject you're most dissapointed about? She was attached to so many potentially great things Ziggy, Brookyn, Utopia, Annette,.., and random ideas like this: There's a New Joker Movie Coming. Here's Who Should Play Batman's NemesisRooney as Joker? :o

I really wish she`d gotten to make Red Sparrow with Fincher.I read the book a while ago and loved it and I could really see Rooney as Dominika and tonally, Fincher would`ve been perfect for this material.I`m still looking forward to the Jennifer Lawrence version though,I`m hoping it`s going to be good.

Fincher should drop his zombies and make something with Rooney, for tv maybe, besides Utopia? can you imagine Roons week after week in you livingroom? yeah, i'm old fashioned like that (rofl)

When it comes to "failed" projects (I hope Vox Lux won't be part of this small group ) my only disappointment is Annette, really sorry that she had to drop out of this - Rooney working with Carax would be something special, no matter how small her role could have been. Ziggy sounded interesting on paper but not as much as Annette. Brooklyn was good but Carol is much better so I don't have problem with this. Not sure about Utopia; it was certainly a fascinating role for her but I'm not big fan of remakes so I don't know But I agree that Fincher should stop wasting his talent and possibilities on zombie sequel and work with Rooney again, as soon as possible. Colaterall Beauty is another "failed" project and I'm more than happy that Roons dodged a bullet here : Warren Beatty's movie about Howard Hughes wasn't that bad but it's good thing she skipped this (although seeing Rooney in 1940s/1950s fashion can't be a miss at all).
Possible future projects and wishful thinking ? Hmm...Idk, so many possibilities. Let's say:
- drama about people in modern world (like Malick movie but with different style) - classy, sophisticated romantic comedy - intelligent Sci-fi (2001 or Blade Runner level) - Audrey Hepburn biopic (but to be really inventive and stylish) - film noir set in the 1940s - creepy horror set in the 1960s or 1970s
Directors: Fincher, Haynes, PTA, Haneke, Lowery, Sofia Coppola, Lynne Ramsay, Coen brothers, Wes Anderson, Steve McQueen, Aronofsky, Kelly Reichardt and Andrea Arnold. And many more...

hard not to agree about Colaterall Beauty sometimes dropping out is a blessing. but i wish Rooney and Jessika Chastain sticked to their orginal roles, i mean i'd prefer if Roons was in Zero Dark Thirty and Jessika in The Secred Scripture.

I'd love to see Rooney in some sort of modern day crime story.

I still think Rooney should do a DC or Marvel movie. Not necessarily as the lead, maybe just a supporting character like Cate Blanchett in Thor.It makes sense to diversify a little, do some bigger budget films along side the dark, indie ones she keeps making.

And now...what ? Mary Magdalene is moved for anti-awards March release date. Vox Lux and A House in the Sky are in pre-production hell and it seems this won't change for the better soon. Only what was left is Don't Worry and we don't know much about it either. No new projects on the horizon so far. No awards attention (and deserved exposition for her work) for Roons - again, like last year.
We, Rooney fans, are like thirsty people in the hot desert with no knowledge where the next oasis with water is. :lol2:
(And worse - how to endure this upcoming Awards circus for the next six months when isn't much left to root for ? With always the same people getting media attention and our girl is abandoned once again - even if she's maybe deserving more than the others ? :-/ I saw this movie last year already)

But at least we saw Rooney's glamorous appearance in Cannes again so this year can't be considered a failure. ;)

it can't be compered to Cannes 2015 or 2013 though, when she was there with her own movies. all photocalls, interviews, awards with her in a lead role! those were the days! this award season is pretty much over for me, it will be weird and disappointing watching her only as an "accessory" for J when she should be there as a nominee herself :'( if not for MM now, then for Una or AGS - and it won't happen, i'm sure sadly. 2018 doesn't look that bright either, at least for now. March release and a small role as a mix of real and imaginary girlfriends, something like Lucy, Rooney won't have anything to talk about this time too, imo (Lion conference at TIFF O_o ). i don't have my hopes up for this one, i just count on her ability to steal these few scenes she's in she can give a great performance even if not many people will appreciate it. and that's it. she takes time off like she said. we need to embrace ourselves for a huge withdrawal, i mean i need to

She needs to work more, simple as that. She`s in a very fortunate position in that she can pick and choose her roles,so I don`t understand why she isn`t taking advantage of that. She`s barely worked at all this year. :-/
