These past weeks I watched quite a lot of movies, for the non 2019 ones: - Rewatched Apocalypse Now and I love it now, I didn't really know how to feel about it when I saw it years ago but now I know why it's a classic. - Days of Heaven was fine, I feel like the other movies I've seen from Malick were better, even Badlands (with the exception of Knight of Cups, though I need to watch that again) - I liked the Solaris remake, though didn't watch the original. Even though it's like one hour and 40 minutes though it felt rather drawn out and I wasn't entirely invested in it. - Rewatched The Expendables 2 and it's at the perfect level of 80s dumb fun, shame that 3 completely missed the mark right after they nailed it. - Saw Van Helsing for the first time, there are some entertaining action, and the cast seem to be having fun, but on the whole it felt really long, it's over 2 hours long. - Rewatched The Conjuring, I still like it but the sequel is better. - Jackie Brown still isn't one of Tarantino's best movies but a rewatch of it made me like and appreciate it a lot more. - I already liked The Hateful Eight but rewatching it made it one of my fave Tarantino movies, it's up there with Inglourious Basterds and I can't figure out which I like more. I also saw the extended cut version for the rewatch.
Which version of Apocalypse Now did you watch ? Original theatrical cut (153 minutes) or Redux Extended (202) ? Personally, I slightly prefer original though I'm also fan of some of the new footage.
Waiting for the new Final Cut (ultimate version - 182 minutes) Blu Ray to be released soon. All three versions will be available there.
Watch original Solaris. It's much better than Clooney version.

I re-watched the original version of Apocalypse Now, I was able to watch the extended version plenty of times but I wanted to make sure that I liked the shorter theatrical cut before I watched the much longer version. Next time I watch the movie I'll probably watch the final cut anyway.

Rocketman.I really liked this,Taron Egerton was fantastic and obviously the music was great.Bryce Dallas Howard was a big weak link, her awful English accent was very distracting, but overall a really good film.8/10.Hellboy(2019)Probably the worst film I've seen this year.David Harbour was its only redeeming feature,he deserved better than this mess.1/10.

Weeks ago I saw Almodóvar’ s Pain and Glory in the theater and It’s really good. Banderas is truly fantastic in it. A very Rooney Mara-esque kind of performance

Searching.I cannot recommend this film enough.John Cho plays a man who's daughter goes missing and he tries to track her down through her social media accounts. It sounds lame but it is actually excellent and one of the best films I've seen in a while.9/10.

Booksmart.Absolutely loved it,it's hilarious and genuinely moving.Way better than Lady Bird imo. I saw Booksmart. I waited for the theater experience. I loved it. You are right it’s great. What a perfect first movie! I read that her second film will be a thriller ... Another director that I hope will work with Rooney someday. .. They wore Hiraeth at the premiere so maybe isn’t that far:)

I saw Once Upon a Time in Hollywood weeks ago in the theater. I’m not especially a Tarantino fan ( My favorite is Reservoir Dogs ) but I think it’s good. There’s a lot to discuss but I really loved its love for LA and its love for the cinema and its “heroes”... I have a thing for movies about movies so maybe that is a factor. I think Di Caprio will be nominated.
Lex did a great review in this forum

It's been a while since I've posted in here. Since I've reviewed the 2019 movies I've seen on here, I'll give my brief thoughts on some of the other movies I've seen recently.
The Age of Innocence is not one of my favourite Martin Scorsese films and it's slow to begin with, but it's still great, Daniel Day-Lewis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Winona Ryder are really good, and of course Scorsese's direction is excellent.
I've still got The Thin Red Line and The New World to watch but at the moment, To The Wonder has to be my second favourite of Terrence Malick's movies. I don't know why that is, but it just really worked for me.
Cat People (original) was pretty short and straightforward but I can see why it's a noteworthy horror movie, it was pretty good.
Train to Busan is honestly one of the best zombie movies I've seen, it's just filled with so much intensity, dread and surprisingly emotion. I don't remember feeling this way towards any other zombie movie I've seen.

Anna. This was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting given how awful the reviews were.It was actually pretty stylish and entertaining. The plot was twisty,Sasha Luss was a competent leading lady and the supporting cast (Helen Mirren,Luke Evans,Cillian Murphy)were all great.Definitely worth a watch.7/10.

The fact that Besson directed it gave me pause too, I'm not gonna lie.But my curiosity got the better of me, and I'm glad it did because this was fun, plus,I have liked some of his past films.
