This is really beautiful and it makes me a bit sad that Sheridan didn't make a much better movie out of it.

This is really beautiful and it makes me a bit sad that Sheridan didn't make a much better movie out of it. From what I can see he seemed to have been aiming pretty hard for awards recognition. Which is never a good thing or a good sign for us. But honestly whatever TSS turns out to be, anticipating the film with you and everyone these few years was quite fun. Thanks to you I still listen to and associate this film with the 'Women in Ireland' Song, so beautiful

I wonder why a company hasn't picked this up for U.S. distribution, it has a pretty good cast, even though it didn't get good reviews, I'm sure people would go see it because they've read the book. I think people who loved the book might hesitate to watch it as Sheridan made a lot of changes from book. Good word of mouth is needed. and with reviews not helping there I can see why studios are hesitant. It's a shame.

You are right, I don't like when they change things from the book... just when they actually make it better like in Chocolat.

the 4th still reminds me of this. And I don't mind Saoirse was the actress who replaced Rooney in that part :)

Saoirse was perfect to play Eilis Lacey just like Rooney was born to play Therese Belivet. :) It's perfect casting in both cases.

You're right, and what I noticed is that both characters start insecure and you see the transformation in the end, I loved how she was giving advise to the the girl in the boat. I loved the music, I don't get why Sheridan isn't using Irish music.
