And I don't mind Saoirse was the actress who replaced Rooney in that part :) She was perfect. She really was, I was thinking that maybe John Crowley was a better director for TSS.

I feel a bit conflicted, He would've probably made a better film, but at the same time I wouldn't want Rooney to miss out on the experience of working with an auteur like Sheridan. What do you think?

I was excited when Sheridan was listed to direct Rooney, then you know what happened, even the author says Sheridan has changed a lot of stuff. But, anyways, let's wait until the movie is out, I think I will enjoy it more than the critics anyway ;) .

I really like them so I take their opinion seriously. Hopefully we enjoy it just as much as they did.

i think it was a great experience for Rooney, she "collects" directors ;) and she learns a lot from them. Sheridan is one of a kind, he has a singular style and approach, i'd love to see him fool around and ad lib with Roons :P

Is this the only time he's made a film with a female at the centre of it?

When I see the trailers, I like them, but I would love to hear Irish music on it. I remember the critics at TiFF was that there was so much going on, I remember having that feeling reading the book.

Better a bad movie with Sheridan than a "Dear critic, I made this movie thinking in your taste" kind a movie with a basic director. In TIFF they asked her about her Sheridan faves and she said In America before the typical ones. I just love In America too

I haven't watched any other film of Crowley's but Brooklyn is pretty much saved by Saoirse. If not for her I probably wouldn't have watched it more than once.

How did you find it? There is a lot going on, quite a lot like for making at least 2 books out of it in my opinion. I read a lot, and this book has not stayed with me, I mean I did enjoy it but it is not in my favs, part of it was well narrated. 3 out of 5 stars.
