That would have been nice. With her previous movies, when you re-watch, do you guys FF next Rooney scenes? I do that :D . I wish she get the chance to be in a movie where she’s the only character, having just an object as a co-star to interact with like in Cast away, Tom Hanks had Wilson, or like in Life of Pi, Suraj Sharma had Richard Parker.

That would be incredible. I'm serious. She should do that. Do you have any specific idea in mind?

I liked how emotionally connected Tom Hanks was with a volleyball and how thoughtful Suraj Sharma was in his narration. Maybe she could write a novel/diary with her own blood and a feather. I read not long ago a book in which the main character writes with his own blood because he had no ink.

I need to read it. :o It’s part of the cemetery of the forgotten books Quadrilogy. I recently discovered this Spanish writer Carlos Ruiz Zafón. He has an excellent prose that never bores you (says the one who gets bored really easy), he has an excellent sense of humour, a lot of sarcasm and can touch your feelings when you don’t expect it. This writer is a genius, one of my favs now. Start with The Shadow of the Wind, then the Angel’s Game (where I thought one of the character could be play by Rooney, but the writer thinks it would be a betrayal if he sells his books to make movies out of them), then The prisoner of heaven, the 4th book has not been published yet in English, I’m trying to get the Spanish version here but I can’t find it, well I have but I don’t plan to spend $50. I don’t get why the library doesn’t have it yet, it seems that they didn’t print enough or too much buyers.

It's been a while since I picked up a book.

I DISAGREE with this review of The Discovery but it's so negative and extreme that it's kinda interesting read its point of view

I loved this scene Credits Song Lyrics "Arrival in Nara" As she submarines The rope loops 'round her feeble feet Before the dawn Breaks on her sorry grasp In a blink and in one motion Rope constricts Rips her towards the ocean She never finds her bearings Sucking splash into her lungs Though I cannot see I can hear her smile as she sings And though I cannot see I can hear her smile as she sings And I just heard Charlie about how difficult was for him editing the movie because was hard watching all these images and also have a life... :( feeds.feedburner.com/TheQaWithJeffGoldsmith

My thoughts on THE DISCOVERY.As Rooney fan TD is and always will be a pretty special film to me. For be Charlie´s. Because the sarcasm of her role. Cause her hair :) The first 45 minutes (until "holding hands scene" ) are perfect to me in every aspect. I hate the"episode Fringe arc". I mean Will and Isla searching proofs. The weakest part of the script ( the house scene with the lady (puke) ) even when both actors have great chemistry there and Rooney is funny in that part. I really want another writing partner for Charlie. He´s too childish writer to my taste and is always doing re-versions of other´s ideas and it´s like a fake originalty. I give to Justin more responsability because I did think the same on TOIL I like Charlie as director. His eye is elegant, clean, personal. (Isla into the oceans shot is one of the best of the year) He´s good student, knows really well his craft, has a refinate taste in references....
I think it takes distance to create a very Kubrick feeling and produce a feeling of estrangement to the viewer that is interesting in science fiction. Now that does not manipulate the viewer to feel empathy running the risk of it being cold or indifferent. It is a virtue and a defect because on the other hand it is good not to underestimate the viewer. Sometimes I think they should have focused just on one of the plots and it will be a better movie. I mean "the cult line of action" in example is... the father-son issue...predictable
And I would love see him in something not sci-fi related because I think he´s very emotional guy and sometimes I feel he´s triying too hard to fit an humanistic, sentimental, romantic interest inside of a sci-fi cage. He could be a good new Cameron Crowe (at his best stage) or Linklater and even Justin has more conversational generational hability than for the intriguing plots in my opinion
The cinematography is amazing.
I like Rooney and Segel being the opposite of their Hollywood labels. He´s in a very subtle mode. She´s the funny girl. Jesse is great with very little. Riley underused,
I love the "mistakes once and again" line of Jason in bed and the fact that Isla always takes the initiative in the relationship physically.
I love the arrow in the sand
and I love the shared headphones scene and I love "her hypothetical Jim", the score and the final scenes and song.
Isla means Island in spanish and "the lines about names" are very Rooney-ish. Also I feel a Rooney-ish moment during the interview, when she does not want to talk about herself... I adore Robert response as well. Brilliant. But my favorite Rooney-ish moment was when Isla talks about not being grateful enough and stuff...
The "bed scenes" are really cute. Even when Charlie loses some gestures of Rooney. I think to create the sensation of weirdness (...)
I disagree with who thinks that the film gets better in repeat. My first view was the best because as viewier I think in all the thoughts that Isla and Will have spontaneously and fresh. In repeat some of them feels pretentious and phony. More views make you think in what the film could be when it is good love it or respect it for what it is.
I love the twist and the final frame but not
{Spoiler!} the previous scenes of the latest discovery (Redford like "I was wrong" the family is the most important, destroys everithing. COME ON it feels forced, fast and fake. Same the gun moment That is... basically :) Sorry my broken english
