People are predicting on Twitter, Emma might get a nomination for "Battle of the Sexes". However, it is a comedy film, and it comes out in September. Any thoughts? link yeah, i saw one tweet from indiewire about that, depends how good she is in this movie, maybe just a nom? but i doubt she'll get a second oscar just one year after her first one, has this ever happened before? This has happened before, to people like Tom Hanks, Hilary Swank (maybe a few more?). But this was a long time ago. Things are different now. And Emma is no Tom Hanks, (And even Hanks is finding it difficult to get nominated now ), At the most she'll get an "afterglow nom". Maybe a win (which I doubt) if she's undeniably great in it and FSL really pushes her hard. For now me thinks it's only a Golden Globes thing.

I think only Tom Hanks in 1993-1994 and Spencer Tracy in 1937-1938 but maybe I'm wrong. Hillary Swank won in 1999 and 2004.

And btw, no way Emma is winning again. Especially not with September release date. Even nomination is doubtful. Some people are also predicting Oscar for Emma Watson in Beauty and the Beast

thank you for your clarification guys! i think it has to be something really extraordinary and excellent to win her a second award so soon, rather a slim chance, imo

Some people are also predicting Oscar for Emma Watson in Beauty and the Beast I think it's only Grace Randolph and Scott Feinberg, neither can be trusted. They're biased as hell whenever it comes to predictions.

Some people are also predicting Oscar for Emma Watson in Beauty and the Beast B&B will probably get a Costume design or tech nom. Acting, no. If they were trying to go for Oscar (acting wise), wouldn't have come out in March.
Emma can win GG at most and that's it.

Maybe Roo for Supporting (but Mary Magdalene and Harvey are strongest?) After Amy Adams this year I don know what to think. Imagine pulling out a Kate Winslet: double noms at the Globes :) I think an Indie Spirit is close tho.

Double noms at the Oscars perhaps ?...this is soo long shot but I'll hope for this until the end.
Possibility is there and the next Awards season will be very exciting. But cautious optimism is strongly advised. :)

I'm sensing that this is the year of Chastain. She's got a brilliant role in Molly's Game. Also Sorkin is a plus. What do you guys think?

I don't want to sound pessimistic but I think Rooney is not winning Oscar next year. There is too much veteran competition (Judi Dench, Glenn Close, Michelle Pfeiffer, Anette Benning are all possibilities). And Jessica Chastain, yes. But nomination for Roon would be great success nonetheless.
I think Rooney will win in 2018-2019 with Vox Lux or A House in the Sky (or something else). She will be overdue by then and AMPAS will finally recognize her subtle, brilliant work in this decade.

Probably you're right. House is a possibility. Vox Lux is too artsy for Oscars I think. I didnt care about Rooney winning awards before Scott Rudin bullshit....Now I will be pretty devastated if she lose against Jessica... I mean Brie has a fucking Oscar with 2 good movies. Emma...

Honestly, at this point winning an Oscar feels more damning for an actor/director's career because it feels like that person appeals much more directly to their conservative, traditional politics. I mean look at Isabelle Huppert-she only has one Oscar nomination and she's head and shoulders above all the other people that were nominated last year (never mind the fact that she didn't win). In fact, so much about Rooney reminds me of a young Isabelle-from her composure, to the challenging filmmakers and films she chooses, regardless of how award-friendly or successful in the box office they are. Rooney definitely has a quality that would appeal more to world cinema/european cinema. Partly due to her more European ancestry and also to her style of performance and personality. It's no wonder that America falls for more crowd pleasing personalities like J. Lawrence, Brie and Emma Stone.

It seems she's always working. Her Oscar is long overdue, however, I don't think STX Entertainment is planning on a running a campaign. Hopefully if it gets good reviews, they'll change their mind. Per ThePlaylist Noooooooooooooooo. Its Pascal production. I love Sorkin tho
