Besides the very obvious political agenda of The Salesman winning, the fact that at least ONE of these films, Train to Busan, The Wailing AND The Handmaiden, were not nominated for best foreign film, is beyond fucking egrigeous. Some of the best pieces of filmmaking to come out this year, and all of them from S. Korea. The Handmaiden especially deserved best cinematography nom. You're right. Every year The Academy commits injustices and biased decisions tho. You can not forget that Oscars are an industry award. Where cinema business guys celebrate themselves. It has always been like this. Never been about the best films really.

We should just accept the Oscars for what they are. It's never about the best film or performance, it's always about what's popular. It's just what it is. Giving it more importance than it deserves will only make us bitter. Not worth it. They'll never change.

Exactly, this year was entertaining at least, the JT opening, food delivered in parachutes, the tourists, even watching John Legend’s wife taking a nap on John's shoulder while Casey was delivering his speech. My favs rarely win, but It will be nice to see Rooney take the Oscar ;) .

Warren Beatty should've said something like Yea, I'm still surprised at how he handled the thing knowing it was the wrong envelope

People are predicting on Twitter, Emma might get a nomination for "Battle of the Sexes". However, it is a comedy film, and it comes out in September. Any thoughts? link It's not FSL's no.1 so a bit doubtful. The fact that Emma just won could bring her back into conversation. But in the end I think this will play more with Globes and that's it. what do you think?
