You might call this far-fetched, but I'm going to share this thought anyway. I can't shake the thought that one of the main reasons why Sony/Amy are hiring Claire is because they need someone who's "likable" enough to sell their product. This is exactly what Fincher was talking about, and it just becomes more clear when you hear about the studios "top choices" for the role. I'm not saying Claire's talent isn't being taken into account. They wouldn't hire her otherwise, but every studio nowadays seem to have this checklist for every actor/actress they hire. Likability means everything nowadays. They seem to want people who can naturally charm people's asses off when promoting and what not. Something which doesn't come to Rooney naturally. Either because she's shy or stubborn, or both. I don't mean that as a bad thing. I love the fact that she hasn't let herself fallen into that trap and remains true to herself and expects people to accept her for the way she is, sort of like a take it over leave it outlook. Which is brilliant, but that doesn't usually sit well with studio execs. So just keeping that in mind I would not be surprised if this is one of the crucial things they were looking for from their top picks (including Claire) and was one of the issues why Rooney wasn't called back.
I had to get this off my chest. Because I think this is an issue which nobody seems to be talking about.

Maggie Gyllenhaall replaced fembot Katie Holmes as Rachel in The Dark Knight and was a vast improvement.I don`t think that`s going to be the case here though as much as I like Clare Foy.  |

Oh I think i've only seen one Batman movie. Yeah, I like Claire too, but that rendition of Rooney is hard to improve. BTW, hope you are safe, saw the news. |
