I just noticed that Joel Edgerton was attached to Garth Davis' project previous to Lion. " Shantaram" so I think he has a big chance as Nigel now. It could be nice and Rooney would be happy in her Australian goals :)

I really like Joel Edgerton as an actor. Hope he gets the role but if not, there's plenty of time for him and Rooney to work together. There was a chance with Red Sparrow (with Fincher directing) but Rooney was only attached to it for a brief time two years ago.

He has to develop a more youthful-hot-Indiana Jones-ish look to be Nigel. In the book they describe him as vain and extroverted but Joel fits. Rooney was like Christmas at that Australian event. Pure smiles |

Anything better than nothing. nenya , are we the only ones truly looking forward to this film getting made? i hope not! but i i get why people are reserved about it, it will be another hard-to-watch movie, but i'm all in for it!  we should hear something soon if it really is going to production and shooting this year, unless Rooney wants to made another one in secret ;) |

I will do campaign for Meryl Streep for Amanda's mother. I know it's a small role but for that reason she has to be A presence. A big actress. Maybe Kate Mara could do a cameo. It's a noble opportunity

It's a noble opportunity I think the lesser the cast is known the better. Amanda and her story should be the focus. God I hope Garth doesn't make this into a campy vanity project, and instead treats in a realistic, earnest and down to earth way. |

Any suitable role for Barkhad Abdi maybe ? Is in the book some prominent character he could possibly play ?

One "wrong" word and my name is already on the black list :smile2: This place is becoming slightly ideological. 
Come on, you know that I'm waiting for House more than two years now. If I said that about VL two days ago it was more my instinctive reaction on all this bad news lately. Right now, House is in more safer hands and with brighter future; on the other hand, everything is falling apart about Vox Lux (or at least, it seems that way). And Celeste character fascinates me already (as for that supposedly terrible script according to some AW users...well, I heard many times about "terrible" scripts which later turned out to be very good or even great. I remember in 2013, when Rooney dropped out of Brooklyn, some people on IMDb said they are glad because they thought the book was "bad", Eilis character is "stupid" and movie will be "terrible". Well...since then, I'm staying away from these "experts".)

I knew about Amanda since the time of her kidnapping, her case was in the news, I never thought that years later Rooney will portrait her, so I read the book even if I don't enjoy reading memoirs that has been written by other people in the name of someone who everyone thinks is the author. I'm hopping she starts filming this once Where'd You Go Bernadette wraps, seems that Annapurna is not so multitasking. |
