I'm interested in it as always, despite not reading book yet. Only have doubts if Garth is the right choice for directing this, would preferred Fincher much more. A story like this certainly has more depth than the sequel to zombie movie.
i disagree. zombie movies, in the right hands, can have plenty of depth (romero’s movies for example). tbh i wouldn’t be surprised if fincher’s movie had way more going on than this, which—i haven’t read the book either—SOUNDS both extremely off-putting and super basic. it would have to be a bold approach to make it interesting and i rly don’t see that coming from garth davis.

A few years ago, when the adaptation of A house in the sky was announced, I was extremely excited about the project. But after Garth Davis was tipped to direct the film, I got discouraged. And after two seemingly mediocre films with Rooney, I doubt the third will be good.

But I think this will be better than Lion because Lion script is so bad (and it will be better that MM I guess). Also because Megan Ellison is a better producer. I saw the extended cut of Lion and there is an artsy side of Garth that gave me hope. If House script is good there’s hope. The book is amazing so it should be great I’ll see Mary in a month so I’ll tell if...

Hope she gets toilets if they have to shoot in remote locations… she said yesterday in the heyUguys video: “it’s not so easy go in the bush”... harder if you are a celebrity... a girl needs a toilet.

At this point, I'd be surprised if this one ever gets off the ground - unfortunately. One positive is that it's obviously Rooney's passion project, and she's stayed attached to it throughout the years. So, if it ever does get made, it's likely she's involved. We just need some casting news... it seems like a long, long time since we've heard her name attached to anything (zzz)

I think we could accelerate that casting news (or maybe I had so much coffee that I'm accelerated), sounds crazy but if you see on imdb "most popular celeb" list, those on top at the ones that get the roles, just because they are on top and studios are thinking just about the $$, I have no idea who most of them are. So just visit her imdb profile more often and see what happens.

At this point, I'd rather this movie never happen. Unless a GREAT screenwriter and director is cast, I do not want this movie coming out of Garth Davis's hands. It would be just another dramatic Oscar-bait movie and could even be considered problematic because of the theme, this kidnapping thing in Somalia and everything. And the last thing I want is Rooney making another problematic or controversial movie.

But on the other hand I would like to see her one day starring in some successful biography, since The Social Network and Lion were films where she had insignificant roles and Mary Magdalene apparently sucks. I'd love to see you in a biography of Audrey Hepburn or Patricia Highsmith.

Good, in one of the interviews videos you've posted on the MM thread, he also said they couldn't talk about it... that's a good sign the movie's still on.
