Didn't you say you'd rather see her in VL than this I want her to be a part of that film as well, but over this? nopity nope! Go back to that thread {Spoiler!} Apologies if I came off very childish :smile2: LOL and what did I say to be excluded? I knew about Amanda since the time of her kidnapping, her case was in the news, I never thought that years later Rooney will portrait her, so I read the book even if I don't enjoy reading memoirs that has been written by other people in the name of someone who everyone thinks is the author. I'm hopping she starts filming this once Where'd You Go Bernadette wraps, seems that Annapurna is not so multitasking. Nothing. I was just being an idiot.

I saw the whole thing in NBC and God it is a very difficult film to do well and I think it is difficult to equate the depth of the book. I can't believe Rooney did 6 scenes with Garth and offered it to him. But as I trust in her instinct that gives me faith in a certain way. We need a blonde actress as Kelly, Amanda's best friend. The episode should be available here . Spoilers :) www.nbc.com/dateline

Amanda’s mom has a new book about the story. Sounds a business- money thing to me but maybe her role in the movie isn’t that small after all. Still I think Mary Steenburgen would be perfect for it. http://instagram.com/p/BbKgDLQFm9a

I'm interested in it as always, despite not reading book yet. Only have doubts if Garth is the right choice for directing this, would preferred Fincher much more. A story like this certainly has more depth than the sequel to zombie movie.

I actually would prefer a female director for this.

i'm in! i think there's still a place for difficult and unnerving movies, look at all these raves for The Tale and for Laura Dorn right now, but it has to be something really special and powerful to make an impact. a different, creative approach is needed. can Garth accomplish something like that? i have no idea... i'm affraid that the timing can be a bit off after so many years, but with a fresh point of view and focus on selected aspects, i believe it can be done in something incerdible, to be honest, i'm more interested in this project than in MM and other Rooney's work with her current boyfriend :no2:

Yeah, Kathryn Bigelow would be a natural choice. Patty Jenkins also maybe ? Haven't seen Wonder Woman.
I would like Kelly also, although this doesn't seem like her type of movie.

She would be my choice. But yea, this is not her thing.

This is why I would love Reed Morano to do this: Who knew Rory Gilmore would be brilliant in her hands, not many directors can catch what is going on “in the head of the character”, even when they are not facing the camera, and there is a lot of introspection in the book. Alexis won the Emmy for best guest actress and Reed for best director. Also she holds her camera and has worked as cinematographer before being a director, I think it is definitely not the same to send somebody else: Even when pregnant, she says the kid is ok :

I’m looking forward to it. I’m alone but the book is great... Waiting for Mary Magdalene before judging Garth ‘s skills
