I saw Manchester by Sea, a few days ago and Casey A is unbelievable in it. I´m not exaggerating, his performance is/ could be one of the greatest ever. I can´t say why without spoiler but just, with or without awards, with or without legal issues, he deserved recognition.
I loved the movie too but is a subjective thing cause I´m a "Kenny" fan since forever and I know his movies are not for everyone so...

I watch The big short on Netflix last night...how the hey it won Best Writing, Adapted Screenplay? Phyllis Nagy's job was a billion times better.

It was a great movie, the performances were definitely the highlight of Manchester by the Sea, especially from Casey. The only thing I didn't really like about the movie was the ending.

Miss Sofia Coppola is back Oh my god, This looks amazing . Huge fan of Sofia, so I will definitely be seeing this. Also, it's really nice to see Nicole working with auteurs again, with this and the Yorgos Lanthimos film she's going to have a great year

Good movies and dark risks

Because solid movie about financial crisis with all-star, all-male cast will always have an advantage over masterful film with two females as main characters among unimaginitive and inept Academy voters renoh

Yes, life is unfair. I was confused almost 99% of the movie, like the message and details were hard to be delivered. Or maybe they praised it just to say they understand, even if they don't. Carol in the other hand was so clear, the only one who seemed a little bit lost was Therese happy-smiley37 , what that was that made the movie real. PS. sorry for my writing, I've noticed I sound like Yoda ( like: hmmm, This mind blowing, etc ) when I write, I write like crazy.

Ridiculously Early Oscar Predictions for 2018 (Zimbio):
link
- Mary Magdalene and even Song to Song are among their honorable mentions. I'm fine with that (for now).
- Rooney is in their HM Best Actress for Mary Magdalene or A Ghost Story
- Joaquin is in their Top 5 Best Actor for MM (Maybe he is supporting rather than lead ? He also have Lynn Ramsay's You were Never Really Here coming out this year).
- Not excited for Dunkirk at all; I don't like Nolan's style and this looks like big Oscar bait
- When Spielberg directs you know that some kid will be center of the story ...again. Boring !
- Wonderstruck Yeah ! But we all know that they never liked Todd and his films very much. Not a big optimist here.
- New Star Wars movie is their favorite to win Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress ? Seriously ?
I'm excited for this Nordic crime thriller The Snowman (with Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, J.K. Simmons, Chloe Sevigny etc) directed by Thomas Alfredson (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). I read the book last year and it's fantastic.
