This is kind of interesting, St. Vincent thanked Rooney & David Lowery in the end credits of short film in XX (a horror anthology movie that just came out on Friday).
Didn't St. Vincent interview her a while back?
yeas, she did! pretty good interview, and they talk about Song to Song shooting : www.interviewmagazine.com/film/rooney-mara-november-2015/

Really hope that scene with Roon and Patti Smith is in the final cut.

Have any of you guys seen Elle? (I might've asked before) I plan on watching it tomorrow morning. Is it good? I saw it a couple of weeks ago. I loved the story but it didn't leave a big impact on me as I thought the directing didn't reach the script's full potential. It's still a good film with a brilliant performance at the centre of it by Huppert. I say go watch it, don't have too many expectations going into it and also be prepared for the fuck-upedness of the story, it may not be for everybody ;)

I mean, it's very flattering but I don't think Rooney's ever considered or approached her job as a method actor. She's said it herself in interviews that she's not a method actor.

Has anyone seen Toni Erdmann? Debating on watching it or not. I personally haven't. Watch it and let us know what you think. Have you seen The Salesman? I'm dying to watch it.

Haven't seen The Salesman yet and I really want too. But here are some opinions from the Awards Daily:
"My biggest disappointment has to be The Salesman winning. I understand why it won but people should be voting for what's best. Toni Erdmann, A Man Called Ove and Land of Mine are all far superior to The Salesman, in my opinion."
"Toni Erdmann was simply fantastic and certainly deserved the win. I liked The Salesman a lot - it was a deserving nominee - but it doesn't have the wonderful originality or sheer brilliance of Erdmann."
Just opinions. But I must agree when someone says that political agenda (no matter how noble is) shouldn't be the decisive factor in determining the winner.

Brando, De Niro and Day Lewis - my three favorite actors of all time. Happy to see Rooney on the same list with them !

Yea I do think politics played a role here and I agree it isn't fair to the other nominees. I haven't watched either Toni or Salesman, but the Farhadi stan in me is so very thrilled for him
