I don't know whether to laugh or cry :lol2: At least Carol and Lion were lucky enough; now I'm seriously worried for MM.

Seriously don't know whether to laugh or cry. This sounds so stupid. And is one of those times when I think and laugh about how he said in one of his interviews about how he considers himself to be a filmmaker. Like, gurl, come on I think his job is a creative one, I don't want to dismiss that as picking projects and managing them can be a talent of a sort. but boy. A24 and Annapurna are better filmmakers in that sense.

What about Blue Valentine? Is that worth watching as well? Yes to both. Drive is a great, stylish, minimalist neo-noir film and has a really understated and subtle performance by Gosling (and one of the best kissing scenes in modern film). Blue Valentine is a completely different type of performance by Gosling but none the less great of a man stuck trying to prolong a dying modern relationship. It's a hard film to watch but it's a great character study of why these two got married and why their marriage fell apart. The way it cuts back and forth to the highs and lows of their marriage is very well done. And while we're on the subject of Ryan Gosling, I highly recommend the Nice Guys-I like Gosling up until then, but his turn to a more comedic role here is what made me an official Ryan Gosling fan. I'd say it actually deserved more of an Oscar nomination than his role in Lalaland, since its his great timing for jokes and slapstick that really drive the energy of the film.

horrorstoryfanfan if you are in mood for Gosling's movies, I'll recommend to you ONLY GOD FORGIVES (2013) despite mixed to negative reviews from critics. On surface, this is classic example of slow-building, "style over substance" movie but if you give it a chance you'll see it's brilliant parable about relationship between Satan - Sinner - God; Hell - Heaven also.
Movie is dark and has a lot of violence but also some unexplainable, magnetic beauty in it. Visuals and music are great and perfect for this story.
Peter Bradshaw (The Guardian) gave 5/5 stars to this movie. Strongly recommended. :
I recommend you to watch DRIVE first and then ONLY GOD FORGIVES.

Just came across Mullholland Dr on Netflix, should I watch it?
Of course. In my opinion it's best David Lynch movie and it topped last year's BBC poll "100 Best Films of 21. century".
You can't miss this one. I have it on Blu-Ray. But prepare yourself to be confused and in melancholic mood after first watch.

Speaking of ONLY GOD FORGIVES, is it true he only has 17 lines in the film? Is he just a cameo or main part? I'm planning on watching it without knowing much (trailer wise)
Both things are correct - he is the main character and he has only 17 lines in the film I'll say only this. The best way is to watch with open mind and remember that God - Sinner - Satan metaphor.

Is anyone looking forward to MOTHER directed by Darren Arronofsky, starring Jennifer Lawrence? It's an Aronofsky movie so yes. Hope he gets a performance out of Lawrence that I won't cringe to for once. I don't know where that Winter's Bone girl went.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Michelle Pfeiffer, Javier Bardem, Domhall Gleeson, Ed Harris and Kristen Wiig, what they do with the film as well. :cheerleading:

Looks like "Baby Driver" isn't so original after all......... :anger2: :fight3: Looks like a PG-13 teenage version. :confuse: Eh some of these are pretty universally used shots for movies. And Edgar was always Tarantino-esque type of filmmaker whose style is a melting-pot of styles
