Eh,I don't think Rooney is someone that is interested in winning oscars or awards that much. She picks films and roles with interesting directors and stories. I think it's purely incidental that these films end up looking "award friendly". And UNA and Secret Scripture barely have any distribution, so expecting them to make a big splash during award season is unrealistic. Of course she doesn´t care. It´s just a game. We know that. She even did an anti Oscars-campaign in Carol promo, defending Haynes :queen: 8-)

The Academy snubbed him as Best Director and B Picture and Rooney was like "Oscar is so straight" and sentences like that

She can't fake the whole process of ass-kissing that comes with campaigning. That's one of the main reasons I adore her and also the reason why I think she'll most likely never win. I hope I'm wrong.

Harvey will most likely get her a NOM for Mary Magdalene, she may or may not win. She's still a fantastic actress with or with out awards. Oscars are fun to watch and I love speculating and following things for months leading upto it, But when people/actors start to seek validation through it, is when it goes into unhealthy territory. And Roons knows she's above that shit.

Agreed. And I don't care if she didn't get it. Gena Rowlands didn't have Oscar in activity. Rooney can be a legend without one. However part of me wants live in a world in the good ones wins because it's important that the referents of any art are people who respects their craft. Seems an obvious thing to say but it's not.I will sound more old than I'm but I truly think that the message the Rooney sent winning awards, being on magazine covers, taking difficult material and also having a life is relevant because shows that a introvert and genuine person can be successful. Or even better she can define again the meaning of the word success for the kids who following her after TGWTDT or who think in her like a symbol after Carol. It's really really important that a society gives publicity to the good ones because we all know that kids spending more time in twitter, watching movies or reading about actors that reading books of history...

Is this going to get a release date soon? I'm sure its in the midst of post-production. If they're shooting for a fall release (which is very likely, I would be surprised if they weren't) then they might take a little time before they reveal it. Do you remember when they revealed the date for Carol or Lion? We might get it around the same time.

Do you remember when they revealed the date for Carol or Lion? We might get it around the same time. March 1, Lion was announced, Carol was announced during Cannes it seems. Harvey likes it and doesn't make any changes, and just release it by the end of the year and not end up like Tulip Fever. Thanks, So we should get it in the coming months

As I recall in 2015 'Carol' was announced in conjunction with Cannes as to be released in mid December with 'Lion' to get the late November 2015 'awards bait' date. Later 'Carol' (mid summer maybe) was switched to the 'awards bait' date and Lion was pushed to the same timing in 2016.
My guess is that Harvey will look at his inventory and put his best shot in the late November slot. I know he likes/trusts both Garth and Rooney, so MM will likely get most of his attention, however, we will see when he feels comfortable making that decision, whether it will be before or after MM Post is complete is any body's guess. My guess is after.

This means Harvey liked the first cut and has faith on it so...can't wait for the monosyllabic press conference of Joaquin and Rooney at TIFF (Still I want Telluride tho)

Thanks. This is really good news, but also such a tease. I wish they had revealed the date as well, only because it would've given Harvey less room to go back on it if he wished to at some point during the year.
